BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The involvement of clinical nurses in the utilization of nursing research in practice has been reported to be minimal. Globally, several studies have reported a host of challenges that hinder the efforts of nurses to use research in practice. However, other facilitators to nursing research exist. This study sought to assess the barriers and facilitators to the utilization of nursing research among Ghanaian nurses in practice.
METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among clinical nurses working at a tertiary health facility in northern Ghana. A total of 330 partic

The purpose of this article is to discuss wound assessment and management for advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs). Skin anatomy is reviewed, and the stages and methods of wound healing are also addressed. Common types of wound/skin disruption are listed. The importance of a thorough and meticulous history and physical exam outlining the appropriate initial evaluation of wounds and including the identification of potential complications such as infection, retained foreign bodies, and neurovascular injuries are also considered. Clinical decision-making and the formulation of differential

BACKGROUND: Implementing digital health technologies is challenging because implementation is shaped by interacting technical, organizational, professional, and contextual factors. Although implementation frameworks such as the Nonadoption, Abandonment, Scale-Up, Spread, and Sustainability (NASSS) framework support understanding this complexity, translating them into practical tools for routine implementation remains difficult.
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to develop and evaluate the Nursing Implementation Complexity Tool (NICT), a theory-informed implementation reflection tool designed to ope

To investigate the association between the type of support provided by nurses for dyspnoea and palliative care practice in Japan, a cross-sectional questionnaire survey was conducted in 2015. Of the 535 questionnaires sent to nurses working at 22 designated cancer hospitals, 344 were returned. The questionnaire assessed the demographic characteristics of the nurses, nursing support for dyspnoea, and palliative care practice measured by the 'Palliative care self-reported practices scale'. BACKGROUND: Pain is a universal human experience and a persistent challenge for health services. Its assessment and management require evidence-based competencies to ensure safe, person-centered care. In most health systems, patients with pain are cared for by both nursing professionals and nursing assistants depending on staff allocation, with assistants performing some delegated interventions. Previous studies have identified knowledge gaps among nursing personnel that may affect the quality of care.
PURPOSE: compare the level of knowledge between nursing professionals and nursing assistant

There is a lack of evidence to guide district nurses in using nurse-sensitive patient outcomes as it is unclear how these outcomes are currently used in daily district nursing practice. Therefore, we aimed to explore (1) which nurse-sensitive patient outcomes are measured and how these outcomes are measured, (2) how district nurses use the outcomes to learn from and improve current practice and (3) the barriers and facilitators to using outcomes in current district nursing practice. An exploratory cross-sectional survey study was conducted. The survey was distributed online among nurses workin

BACKGROUND: There is a need of research to evaluate and compare the competencies of nurses in integrating patients' religion and spirituality into nursing practice in various settings, including general and psychiatric hospitals. By understanding the competencies of nurses working in different environments, tailored spiritual care training programs can be developed to meet their specific needs. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the competencies of nurses in integrating patients' religion/spirituality into nursing practice in both a general and a psychiatric hospital.

The COVID‑19 pandemic has had a catastrophic and enduring impact on frontline nurses, contributing to burnout, stress, and widespread workforce disruption. This qualitative study used Thorne's interpretive description methodology to explore the lived experiences of nursing students, new graduate nurses, and nurses who resigned within their first year of practice during the pandemic. Semi‑structured interviews were conducted across multiple US regions to understand how pandemic‑era educational and clinical experiences shaped perceptions of nursing, career trajectories, and readiness for practic

Core nursing procedures are essential for nursing students to master because of their high frequency in nursing practice. However, the experience of performing procedures in actual hospital settings decreased during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, necessitating the development of various contents to supplement procedural training. This study investigated the effects of a straight catheterization program utilizing an immersive virtual reality simulation on nursing students' procedural performance, self-confidence, and immersion. The study employed a nonequivalent control group pretest-po

A study of Baccalaureate nursing students was conducted to explore and describe undergraduate nursing students' experience of interaction with culturally diverse psychiatric patients. Thirty-seven nursing students participated in this research project. Sixteen of the students came from a predominantly black university and the other twenty-one students came from a predominantly white university. Both universities are situated in the same city and allocate their nursing students to the same psychiatric hospital for practical experience. The student nurses reported having experienced both positiv
