OBJECTIVE: To determine the distribution of the iceA and babA2 genotypes of Helicobacter pylori in patients with various gastroduodenal diseases in Shanghai, and to explore the association between genotype and the clinical outcome of infection.
METHODS: One hundred and forty-one strains of H. pylori were isolated from gastric biopsies of 43 patients with chronic gastritis, 47 with duodenal ulcer (DU), 30 with gastric ulcer (GU) and 21 with non-cardia gastric carcinoma. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to systematically review the literature on animal ototoxicity from ototopical medications. A secondary objective was to assess the relevance of animal data to the use of ototopical drops in clinical situations involving humans.
STUDY DESIGN: We performed a MEDLINE search of the published literature using appropriate search terms to identify pertinent articles, which were reviewed, summarized, and tabulated.
RESULTS: One hundred seventy-three articles were reviewed; 61 articles were appropriate to the study question and were further analyzed.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLCL) is characterized by a marked degree of morphologic and clinical heterogeneity. We studied 156 patients with de novo DLCL for rearrangements of the BCL2, BCL6, and MYC oncogenes by Southern blot analysis and BCL2 protein expression. We related these data to the primary site of presentation, disease stage, and other clinical risk factors. Pattern visual evoked potentials (VEPs) to transient and steady-state stimulation were recorded in 10 normal subjects at 4 levels of luminance (180, 57, 22 and 11 cd/m2). VEPs were also recorded in 5 patients with optic neuropathy at a fixed luminance (180 cd/m2). Blood lymphocytes were determined from 21 patients with seropositive rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in a cross-sectional study with 5 monoclonal antibodies (MAb) of the BL-series. 7 patients were examined with the same MAb over a time period of 14 weeks before and after a prednisolone-pulse therapy.
