The authors describe the case of a 67 year-old woman bearing a malignant lymphoma displaying two different histological patterns: a Lennert's lymphoma pattern in a cervical lymph node and a diffuse centroblastic lymphoma pattern in an axillary node. Twenty-seven patients with stages I or II thyroid lymphomas were investigated immunologically. Approximately 60% of these patients had a goiter for longer than 1 year. Both the tests for serum antithyroid antibodies and histologic findings of the resected specimens showed that chronic lymphocytic (autoimmune) thyroiditis was usually present. The tumors were classified histologically as seven cases of follicular lymphomas and 20 cases of diffuse lymphomas. An epitope with apparent specificity for the surface of human syncytiotrophoblast was defined by a murine monoclonal antibody, FDO46B (IgG1, kappa). The epitope was predominantly expressed during the first trimester of pregnancy. Binding was detected on frozen tissue sections and on cultured trophoblast by the immunoperoxidase technique. Non-specific esterase staining has been found useful in the detection of macrophages in prostatic fluid (PF). In the early stage of acute prostatitis most of the leucocytes in a smear of PF took up the stain, suggesting the dominant participation of macrophages in the inflammatory area in this stage of the disease. Hepatic microvesicular fat (MVF) has been associated with clinical syndromes of liver failure (such as acute fatty liver of pregnancy and Reye's syndrome). We performed this pilot study to investigate the specificity and potential risk factors of MVF. A 57-year-old man with a 2-year history of extramammary Paget's disease of the penis, scrotum and the axilla attended our urology clinic. The lesion in the axilla had been noticed 14 months later than the lesion involving the penis and scrotum.
