BACKGROUND: The translocation t(14;18)(q32;q21) is the genetic hallmark of follicular lymphoma (FL) and can be observed in 85-90% of cases. Whether the translocation is restricted to cells with germinal center B-cell phenotype or can be observed in other cell types of the microenvironment remains debated. Of interest, cases of associated histiocytic and dendritic cell sarcomas arising in the background of FL have been shown to be clonally related and carry the t(14;18), suggesting a "transdifferentiation" of the malignant FL clone into a neoplasm of a different hematopoietic lineage.

Malignant histiocytosis, as defined by Rappaport, is now known as a manifestation of malignant lymphoma, the majority of which is the T-cell type. In humans, malignant histiocytosis is a tumour-like disease characterised by increasing proliferation of macrophages and reinforced degradation of erythrocytes. PURPOSE: The purpose of this work is to describe the CT and MR appearance of primary malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) of the chest wall.
METHOD: Eleven men and eight women (45-76 years old) with primary MFH of the chest wall who underwent both CT and MRI were enrolled, and the imaging interpretation was retrospectively compared to the pathologic specimen.

We retrospectively analyzed the outcome of hematopoietic stem cell transplantations (HSCT) performed at our Center between 1991 and 2002 in 11 unselected patients with Omenn syndrome, a variant of severe combined immunodeficiency. This article is designed to assist the practitioner in the evaluation of bone marrow aspiration biopsies. The indications for marrow evaluation, methods of sample collection, sample preparation, and cytologic examination of bone marrow are discussed. Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) were generated against a CD44 mRNA expressing (RT-PCR) macrophage/monocyte cell line (DH82) from a dog with malignant histiocytosis.
