PURPOSE: The retromolar canal (RMC) and foramen (RMF) are anatomic variants in the retromolar area of the mandible. The purpose of this study was to clarify the relationship between the RMC and RMF and related complications, and to reveal how the RMC could impact the mandibular anatomy using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and panoramic images (PAN).
MATERIALS AND METHODS: CBCT and PAN images of 50 patients were retrospectively analyzed to investigate the morphology of the RMC and RMF, and their impact on impacted third molar surgery and orthognathic surgery.

The tunnel sign has been described as a specific feature of cerebral sparganosis. We present a case of a 55-year-old gentleman found to have cerebral melioidosis and with initial imaging mimicking the appearance of sparganosis. This suggests that the tunnel sign in brain abscesses may be specific for infection by Burkholderia Pseudomallei, Spirometra Mansoni or Listeria Monocytogenes.

PURPOSE: Colonic angiodysplasia is an important cause of lower gastrointestinal bleeding in the elderly. Here, we investigated the risk factors for bleeding from colonic angiodysplasia seen at endoscopy.
METHODS: We conducted a retrospective case-control study by reviewing records of 435 patients with angiodysplasia at colonoscopy from November 2006 to November 2015 in our hospital. To identify risk factors for active bleeding, the following were analyzed: age, sex, comorbidities, use of antithrombotic drugs and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and the size and location of the lesions.

UNLABELLED: Clandestine abortion is known to be a major contributor to maternal mortality. We report a case of a 25-year old patient in her 12th week of amenorrhea with peritonitis due to uterine perforation following abortion, admitted with abdomen and pelvis pain, vomiting and diarrhea. Clinical examination on admission showed asthenic peritonitis. Surgical exploration showed widespread acute peritonitis secondary to a perforation of the uterine dome, with collection of 1500 cc of purulent material, dilated bowel loops and multiple false membranes.
