Anesthetic implications of two genetic translocation (6p21; 6p13) in a patient with history of congenital varicella syndrome: a case report.

The coexistence of multiple chromosomal abnormalities and Congenital Varicella Syndrome (CVS) in one patient is a rare event in which anesthetic implications should be considered. This case report describes a 9-year-old female with CVS and a karyotype analysis of 6p21; 16p13 genetic translocations. We conducted a detailed investigation of the consequences of such findings and the potential outcomes in anesthesia of this uncommon incident including thorough research on the characteristics present in each condition. We concluded that: (1) coexistence of two genetic translocations (6p21; 16p13) i

Postvaricella purpura fulminans with no evidence of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) or protein S deficiency.

The mechanism of postvaricella purpura fulminans is thought to be due to development of antiprotein S antibodies. These antibodies lead to an acquired transient severe protein S deficiency which results in disseminated intravascular coagulation and microvascular thrombosis. Here a patient presented with postvaricella purpura fulminans, where no clinical or laboratory evidence of disseminated intravascular coagulation could be found and there was no deficiency of protein S.

[Varicella].

Varicella is an acute, highly contagious respiratory and caused by Varicella-zoster virus (VZV). After the primary infection, VZV induce Varicella, then the virus remains dormant in sensory nerve roots in life. Upon the reactivation, shingles can occur. Most of patients can recovery very soon, but kinds of potentially severe complication can induce death. Nowadays the VZV vaccination isn't included in the expanded immunization program in our country. Varicella outbreaks take place at times in the middle of children of our country. The paper offers concise description about pathogen characteris

Increasing coverage and efficiency of measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine and introducing universal varicella vaccination in Europe: a role for the combined vaccine.

Universal mass vaccination according to a 2-dose measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine schedule is recommended by the World Health Organization and is fundamental to the control of these important diseases. Very high coverage (first dose, > or =95%; second dose, > or =80%) is necessary to achieve and sustain high population immunity, and eventually interrupt indigenous transmission of these diseases. In 2006, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices issued a recommendation for 2 doses of varicella vaccine to be given universally to children. Coadministration of MMR and varicella vaccines

Spectrum of centrosome autoantibodies in childhood varicella and post-varicella acute cerebellar ataxia.

BACKGROUND: Sera from children with post-varicella infections have autoantibodies that react with centrosomes in brain and tissue culture cells. We investigated the sera of children with infections and post-varicella ataxia and related conditions for reactivity to five recombinant centrosome proteins: gammagamma-enolase, pericentrin, ninein, PCM-1, and Mob1. METHODS: Sera from 12 patients with acute post-varicella ataxia, 1 with post-Epstein Barr virus (EBV) ataxia, 5 with uncomplicated varicella infections, and other conditions were tested for reactivity to cryopreserved cerebellum tissue an

[Zosteriform eruption in a girl during resolution of varicella].

We show the case of a six-years-old little girl with a herpes zoster which appeared while a varicella was resolving. We are discussing the diagnosis difficulties of this process.

[Isolation of viruses in the cerebrospinal fluid in a case of acute varicella meningo-encephalitis].

The authors report a case of severe, life-threatening, meningo-encephalitis occurring in a young nonimmunodepressed adult with varicella. The demonstration of a cytopathogenetic effect of his cerebrospinal fluid and of immunoglobulins M specific to the varicella-zoster virus was in favour of an acute, directly viral-dependent encephalitis rather than an immune-mediated leucoencephalitis, as used to be commonly admitted. This is an incitement to use acyclovir in such cases, the effect of which contributes to reinforce this pathogenic hypothesis.

Determinants of knowledge and attitudes toward Mpox among medical students: A cross-sectional study from Kurdistan region of Iraq.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: Mpox is a re-emerging zoonotic viral infection that has recently caused widespread outbreaks in previously non- … ledge levels (p = 0.015). Attitude was significantly linked to gender (p = 0.012), and a history of chickenpox (p = 0.0019). CONCLUSION: Medical students in the present study demonstrated relatively insufficient knowledge about Mpox. However, their attitudes were more favorable, albeit still suboptimal. These findings highlight the urgent necessity for stru …

Fcgamma receptor polymorphisms in relation to periodontitis.

Accurate and timely diagnosis of monkeypox (Mpox) is vital for outbreak control and effective treatment. However, its skin lesions often resemble those of chickenpox and measles, making visual diagnosis challenging, even for experts. This issue is worsened by the limited availability of large, labeled multiclass datasets, reducing the effectiveness of deep learning models in real-world scenarios. Moreover, single CNN models often suffer from overfitting and bias, leading to suboptimal performance. While combining multiple models can enhance results, simply increasing the voter pool does not en…
