Pellucid marginal degeneration (PMD) is an uncommon cause of inferior peripheral corneal thinning disorder, characterized by irregular astigmatism. Collagenous and lymphocytic colitis are well-described conditions causing chronic watery diarrhoea. BACKGROUND: The normal glomerular basement membrane, composed of type IV collagen, plays an important function in the process of filtration. Rarely, type III, type I, or type V collagen is seen in the glomerulus, resulting in three different types of non-immune mediated glomerulopathies recognized thus far. These are characterized by deposition of banded collagen fibers in the glomerulus.

AIM: To evaluate the influence of resorbable membranes on hard tissue alterations and osseointegration at implants placed into extraction sockets in a dog model.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: In the mandibular premolar region, implants were installed immediately into the extraction sockets of six Labrador dogs. Metatarsalgia is an increasingly common condition seen in the outpatient setting. A number of conservative and surgical management options are available for this condition. We present an interesting case that was unsuccessfully treated with'dermal filler.' To our knowledge, we have not found any published material in peer-reviewed journals documenting the use of collagen injections in the treatment of metatarsalgia. The authors feel that the lesson learned from this case should be highlighted for other foot and ankle surgeons.

Tenascin-X is an extracellular matrix protein whose absence leads to an Ehlers-Danlos syndrome in humans, characterized mainly by disorganisation of collagen and elastic fibril networks.
