Clinical trials of monotherapies have failed to deliver disease modification for patients living with Parkinson’s disease, suggesting that a broader strategy for therapeutic development may be required. The medical research charity Cure Parkinson’s convened a workshop to discuss key considerations for developing rationally-designed combination therapies to slow progression of the condition. Here, we review combination therapies and share the conclusions of the meeting.

We present a unique model of a British genetic carrier screening programme for individuals with Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry that exemplifies a partnership between a publicly funded healthcare service (the NHS) and a charity, Jnetics. This model provides affordable access to carrier screening for severe autosomal recessive diseases increased in this community.
