OBJECTIVES: We describe 11 cases of myopericarditis complicating bacterial tonsillitis.
METHODS: We performed a retrospective study of all cases of myopericarditis treated at one hospital during the years 2005 and 2006.
RESULTS: The patients were all young men. The average latency from the onset of throat pain to the onset of chest pain was 4.6 days. All patients complained of chest pain. The most common electrocardiographic finding was transient ST segment elevations. The levels of cardiac enzymes and troponin were elevated in all cases.

OBJECTIVE: We report a case of leiomyosarcoma arising in the tonsil in a 73-year-old man.
METHOD: Case report and review of the English language literature (using Pubmed, Ovid and Proquest databases).
RESULTS: To our knowledge, this is the first case of tonsillar leiomyosarcoma to be reported in the English language literature. Our patient presented with haemoptysis, unilateral odynophagia and an ulcerated, exophytic lesion of the tonsil. Histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma, and the patient was treated with radical radiotherapy.

A rare case of tuberculosis of tonsil in a 32 year old male patient, who presented with an ulcero granulomatus lesion of left tonsil which is tender, bled on touch. There was an associated left cervical lymphadenopathy. Routine laboratory investigations were with in normal limits. FNAC of cervical lymph node and Histopathological examination of tonsillar tissue shows tuberculosis. Chest X-ray revealed bilateral extensive pulmonary kochs. The patient was put on anli-tubercular therapy with which the patient responds very well.

A 13 year old female patient presented to ENT OPD with chronic recurrent tonsillitis and underwent tonsillectomy. The histopathological examination revealed heterotopic cartilage in both the tonsils. The postoperative period was uneventful. The histopathologic finding of choristom of the tonsil is rare.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the early diagnosis ways of the tonsil mycosis.
METHOD: The study was designed to investigate 18 patients with mycosis of tonsil in the PUMC hospital since 1995 year. Direct smear and microscopical examination of secretory material, tissues from tonsil infection were conducted; fungus culture was performed in the fungi positive cases for microscopical identification.
RESULT: The diagnosis of all patients were demonstrated by the pathogeny check at last.
CONCLUSION: The direct smear examination and fungus culture are important methods for early diagnosis to the mycosis

Benign neoplasms of the tonsillar region are rare and these include haemangiomas, fibromas, lipomas and schwannomas (Friedmann I, 1986). True fibromas of oral cavity and oropharynxes are very rare (Waal I. V., Snow, G. B. 1993). Fibromas have been recorded in nasal cavity, pharynx and larynx (Fu Y. S., Perzin K. H. 1976), We report a case of fibroma of tonsil for its rarity.
