Recent advancements in diagnosis and treatment of inner ear disorders, including benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, Meniere's disease, and vestibular neuritis, have significantly improved patient care. In this review, new technologies such as video head impulse testing, dynamic posturography, virtual reality, and mechanical rotation chairs have enhanced diagnostic accuracy and facilitated improved and targeted treatment, which are addressed. Furthermore, rapid and consistent use of vestibular rehabilitation has proven effective in reducing vertiginous symptoms and improving overall balance

estibular neuronitis is one of the leading causes of peripheral vertigo. Inflammation confined to the vestibular system, and the cochlear, central nervous system and hearing are normal. The disease may be associated with viral infections, but the virus serological positive rate is not high. Vestibular-evoked myogenic potential and head impulse test can be used for sub-type diagnosis, and improve the detection rate of inferior vestibular neuronitis.Corticosteroids therapy is still controversial, and had not been included in VN conventional treatment. Vestibular rehabilitation is helpful in buil

BACKGROUND: Fifty per cent of children with serous otitis media may have some balance disturbances.
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate vestibular function in children with otitis media with effusion.
METHODS: The control group comprised 25 children with bilateral normal hearing and middle-ear function. The study group consisted of 30 children with bilateral otitis media with effusion; these were divided into 2 subgroups according to air-bone gap size. Measures included the Arabic Dizziness Handicap Inventory, an imbalance evaluation sheet for children, vestibular bedside tests for children, and air- and

Objective:The aim of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic value of vestibular-evoked myogenic potential (cVEMP and oVEMP), caloric test, … hest(74%), followed with cVEMP(67%), oVEMP(55%) and caloric test(56%). Conclusion:Compared with the vestibular function tests, the sensitivity, specificity, diagnostic accuracy and NPV were all higher in ECochG, and the diagnostic benefit can be maximized when -SP/AP value>0.4. So the value of single vestibular function examination in the diagnosis of Meniere's disease is …

BACKGROUND: Vestibular function is a key component of balance and motor control, together with hearing for spatial orientation. Vestibular impairment is often present in case of childhood deafness, which is frequently resolved with cochlear implant (CI). With this study, we aimed to explore (1) the relation between balance, physical activity and vestibular function in teenagers and young adults since infancy (TAYACI), (2) the influence on balance with CI on vs. off, and (3) balance tests’ possibility to screen vestibular impairment in paediatric standard care. METHODS: 41 TAYACI, aged 12–22, a

BACKGROUND: Quantitative assessment of vestibular nerve activity has been difficult with conventional electrophysiological techniques. This … luating vestibular nerve function through eye movement analysis. The method may complement existing vestibular function tests in future clinical applications. Galvanic vestibular stimulation-video-oculography also offers utility in both research and clinical settings by linking physiological mechanisms with observable oculomotor responses. This approach holds promise as a …

AIM: To comprehensively evaluate the dynamic change of vestibular function during long-term follow-up of vestibular neuritis, as well as the co-relationship with the outcomes of vestibular neuritis (VN), which provides the recommendations for vestibular function tests during the course of VN.
METHODS: A prospective cohort study was conducted on 16 patients with acute VN. Caloric test, vHIT, rotatory chair tests, VEMP, dizziness handicap inventory (DHI) score, and dynamic dizzy scales (VAS-DD) was first performed within 7 days of neuritis onset, which were further re-evaluated during the 6-12 …

Objective:To evaluate the value of high intensity stimulation training of semicircular canal of SRM-Ⅳ vertigo diagnosis and treatment system in the rehabilitation of vestibular neuritis. Methods:To analyze 68 patients with vestibular neuritis treated in Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Shijiazhuang People's Hospital from January 2020 to January 2021, conduct spontaneous nystagmus and head toss test, and perform spontaneous nystagmus and rotation test of SRM-Ⅳvertigo system, compare the positive rate of the side of disease was between the two. Facial nerve schwannomas (FS) can symptomatically mimic vestibular schwannomas (VS). In addition, FS can be difficult to distinguish from VS on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Although disequilibrium is not uncommon in patients with FS, no previous studies have investigated the vestibular function in such patients. Three cases of FS presented vestibular dysfunction as measured with caloric test, video head impulse test (VHIT), and vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs). All patients in this study had a considerable affection of the vestibular function as assessed by the vestibular tes

Many pharmaceuticals have ototoxicity (both cochlear and/or vestibular) as part of their adverse medication profile. The aminoglycoside class of antimicrobials has been especially well studied in this regard. Many questions remain unanswered as to how to best monitor and prevent this complication. A bilateral vestibular loss profoundly affects an individual's quality of life, physical activities, and overall independence. Paradoxically, the effects of gentamicin ototoxicity have provided further insight into the workings of the vestibular system, especially the vestibulo-ocular reflex. The mic
