BACKGROUND: In this article, we propose a method that integrates systematic layout planning techniques to lean health care practices aided by multicriteria decision analysis that could be applied to reformulate the layout of health care facilities.
METHODS: We analyze a high-variety sterilization unit of a large public hospital located in Brazil. The unit is currently implementing lean practices, and layout changes are required to provide more efficient materials and information flows.

It is estimated that one third of adults in the United States has some form of IHD, including more than 17 million with coronary artery disease (CAD) and nearly 10 million with angina pectoris [1]. In this report we describe the first case of alveolar echinococcosis and leukemic malignant T-cell lymphoma in a dog presented to a general practice in the Netherlands. The owner and the dog moved from Switzerland to The Netherlands a few weeks before. The clinical aspects, diagnostics, pathology, therapy and public health aspects of this severe parasitic zoonosis are described.

Clinical trials of the gene engineered human alpha 2-interferon as ointment were performed. The ointment was used in the treatment of patients with relapsing herpes of various localization, relapsing aphthous stomatitis and pemphigus vulgaris. It was shown that the ointment was harmless and its therapeutic effect was favourable. The preparation is recommended for introduction into the practice of public health.

Animal rabies cases have increased steadily in South Carolina (SC) for the past decade. An understanding of the population's awareness and understanding of the disease is needed to tailor public health interventions. A marketing list-serv of SC residents' email addresses was used to recruit anonymous respondents for a Knowledge Attitudes and Practices (KAP) electronic survey. WHAT IS ADDED BY THIS REPORT?: This was the initial report of a brucellosis outbreak in the last five years. Strains of B. melitensis bv. 3 from Weihai and other cities showed a close genetic relationship, suggesting a potential common ancestry.
