The influence of employee mental health on sustainable corporate practices among starred hotels: the roles of marketing performance and stress management.

Despite growing recognition of the role of employee well-being in organisational outcomes, limited empirical research has examined how employee mental health covaries with corporate sustainability through marketing performance in the hospitality sector, particularly in emerging economies such as Ghana. Grounded in the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) Model and the Theory of Constraints (TOC), this study addresses this gap by investigating the mediating role of marketing performance and the moderating role of stress management in the relationship between employee mental health and sustainable corpo

Mobile App Use among Persons with Fibromyalgia: A Cross-sectional Survey.

Persons with fibromyalgia experience a diverse set of symptoms. Recommendations for management generally focus on multidisciplinary approaches involving multiple modalities. Mobile apps can be an essential component for self-management, yet little is known about how persons with fibromyalgia use mobile apps for health-related purposes. A cross-sectional survey (N = 663) was conducted to understand the real-world use of apps among persons with fibromyalgia. The survey included 2 main foci: 1) eHealth literacy and use of information sources, and 2) mobile app use patterns and preferences for hea

A telephone survey to measure communication, education, self-management, and health status for patients with heart failure: the Improving Chronic Illness Care Evaluation (ICICE).

BACKGROUND: Many aspects of quality of care for heart failure cannot be reliably obtained by chart review. METHODS AND RESULTS: We created and tested a telephone survey to measure provider-patient communication; satisfaction; patient education, knowledge, and self-management; and health status for the Improving Chronic Illness Care Evaluation. A total of 781 patients participated in the survey; 62% were age 65 or older, 66% had a history of coronary artery disease, and 59% were cared for by a cardiologist. The measures of communication, satisfaction, patient education, knowledge, and self-man

A Generic Model for Follicular Lymphoma: Predicting Cost, Life Expectancy, and Quality-Adjusted-Life-Year Using UK Population-Based Observational Data.

OBJECTIVES: To use real-world data to develop a flexible generic decision model to predict cost, life expectancy, and quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) for follicular lymphoma (FL) in the general patient population. METHODS: All patients newly diagnosed with FL in the UK's population-based Haematological Malignancy Research Network (www.hmrn.org) between 2004 and 2011 were followed until 2015 (N = 740). Treatment pathways, QALYs, and costs were incorporated into a discrete event simulation to reflect patient heterogeneity, including age and disease management. Two scenario analyses, based o

A Scoping Review of Integrated Care Models for Managing Depression in Older Adults.

Background: Depression is a major health issue among older adults and is frequently accompanied by chronic physical conditions. Conventional care of depression in older adults is delivered through primary care settings and often fails to address the complex interactions between mental health, physical illness, and social determinants of health in this population. Integrated care models, characterized by coordinated, multidisciplinary, and patient-centered approaches, have emerged as a promising strategy for improving depression outcomes in late life. Objective: This scoping review aimed to cha

Implementing ASH's guidelines for acute medical care for incarcerated children and adults with sickle cell disease.

Between 2019 and 2021, the American Society of Hematology (ASH) developed clinical guidelines for managing sickle cell disease (SCD), covering acute pain, acute neurological events, and other complications. However, these guidelines lacked implementation strategies for incarcerated individuals, a vulnerable group with unique challenges. In 2024, an ASH special panel of SCD and carceral health experts convened to address acute SCD care in custody settings, emphasizing timely access to emergency care, including acute management for acute strokes, pain management, and fever evaluation. The ASH sp

Frequently asked questions and answers (if any) in patients with adrenal incidentaloma.

PURPOSE: Adrenal incidentalomas (AIs) are incidentally discovered adrenal masses, during an imaging study undertaken for other reasons than the suspicion of adrenal disease. Their management is not a minor concern for patients and health-care related costs, since their increasing prevalence in the aging population. The exclusion of malignancy is the first question to attempt, then a careful evaluation of adrenal hormones is suggested. Surgery should be considered in case of overt secretion (primary aldosteronism, adrenal Cushing's Syndrome or pheochromocytoma), however the management of subcli

Digital health technologies for high-risk pregnancy management: three case studies using Digilego framework.

OBJECTIVE: High-risk pregnancy (HRP) conditions such as gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), hypertension (HTN), and peripartum depression (PPD) affect maternal and neonatal health. Patient engagement is critical for effective HRP management (HRPM). While digital technologies and analytics hold promise, emerging research indicates limited and suboptimal support offered by the highly prevalent pregnancy digital solutions within the commercial marketplace. In this article, we describe our efforts to develop a portfolio of digital products leveraging advances in social computing, data science, an

A descriptive, cross-sectional study examining treatment burden in people living with HIV.

AIM: (1) describe the percentage of people living with HIV (PLWH) experiencing high levels of treatment burden who are at risk for self-management non-adherence, and (2) examine the relationship between known antecedent correlates (the number of chronic conditions, social capital, and age) of self-management and treatment burden while controlling for sample socio-demographics. BACKGROUND: Chronic condition self-management is key to maintaining optimal health in the aging population of PLWH. Despite the efforts of providers, patients, and caregivers, self-management non-adherence is still a fa

The Key Importance of Screening Underprivileged People in Order to Achieve Global Hepatitis Virus Elimination Targets.

Chronic hepatitis B (HBV), alongside hepatitis D virus (HDV) super-/co-infection and chronic hepatitis C (HCV), are major contributors to cirrhosis, end-stage liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and liver-related mortality. Despite significant progress in antiviral treatments and HBV vaccination, viral hepatitis remains a global health burden. Vulnerable populations, such as those experiencing homelessness, migrants, and economically disadvantaged groups, are disproportionately impacted by these infections, often facing barriers to care and exclusion from traditional health systems.

Holistic Hypertension Management.

Hypertension (HTN) is a major health care problem affecting nearly half of American's adult population. HTN is one of the costliest diagnoses among cardiovascular disease and leads to other major cardiovascular complications, which increase overall morbidity and mortality. Of those diagnosed with HTN in America, only one-fourth of patients are living with well-controlled HTN. This evidenced-based HTN management practice innovation was conducted to explore evidenced-based, holistic nursing practice of a low-sodium dietary approach to stop hypertension (DASH) diet, and exercise alongside antihyp
