Memristor-based circuit design of episodic memory neural network and its application in hurricane category prediction.

Episodic memory, as a type of long-term memory (LTM), is used to learn and store the unique personal experience. Based on the episodic memory biological mechanism, this paper proposes a bionic episodic memory memristive neural network circuit. The proposed memristive neural network circuit includes a neocortical module, a parahippocampal module and a hippocampus module. The neocortical module with the two paths structure is used to receive the sensory signal, and is also used to separate and transmit the spatial information and the non-spatial information involved in the sensory signal. The pa

A Multi-Modal Classification Method for Early Diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment and Alzheimer's Disease Using Three Paradigms With Various Task Difficulties.

Alzheimer's Disease (AD) accounts for the majority of dementia, and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) is the early stage of AD. Early and accurate diagnosis of dementia plays a vital role in more targeted treatments and effectively halting disease progression. However, the clinical diagnosis of dementia requires various examinations, which are expensive and require a high level of expertise from the doctor. In this paper, we proposed a classification method based on multi-modal data including Electroencephalogram (EEG), eye tracking and behavioral data for early diagnosis of AD and MCI. Paradigm

An Identification Method for Road Hypnosis Based on Human EEG Data.

The driver in road hypnosis has not only some external characteristics, but also some internal characteristics. External features have obvious manifestations and can be directly observed. Internal features do not have obvious manifestations and cannot be directly observed. They need to be measured with specific instruments. Electroencephalography (EEG), as an internal feature of drivers, is the golden parameter for drivers' life identification. EEG is of great significance for the identification of road hypnosis. An identification method for road hypnosis based on human EEG data is proposed in

Early diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease based on multi-attention mechanism.

Alzheimer's Disease is a neurodegenerative disorder, and one of its common and prominent early symptoms is language impairment. Therefore, early diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease through speech and text information is of significant importance. However, the multimodal data is often complex and inconsistent, which leads to inadequate feature extraction. To address the problem, We propose a model for early diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease based on multimodal attention(EDAMM). Specifically, we first evaluate and select three optimal feature extraction methods, Wav2Vec2.0, TF-IDF and Word2Vec, to e

Convolutional neural network deep learning model accurately detects rectal cancer in endoanal ultrasounds.

BACKGROUND: Imaging is vital for assessing rectal cancer, with endoanal ultrasound (EAUS) being highly accurate in large tertiary medical centers. However, EAUS accuracy drops outside such settings, possibly due to varied examiner experience and fewer examinations. This underscores the need for an AI-based system to enhance accuracy in non-specialized centers. This study aimed to develop and validate deep learning (DL) models to differentiate rectal cancer in standard EAUS images. METHODS: A transfer learning approach with fine-tuned DL architectures was employed, utilizing a dataset of 294 i

Detection and recognition of the invasive species, Hylurgus ligniperda, in traps, based on a cascaded convolution neural network.

BACKGROUND: Hylurgus ligniperda, an invasive species originating from Eurasia, is now a major forestry quarantine pest worldwide. In recent years, it has caused significant damage in China. While traps have been effective in monitoring and controlling pests, manual inspections are labor-intensive and require expertise in insect classification. To address this, we applied a two-stage cascade convolutional neural network, YOLOX-MobileNetV2 (YOLOX-Mnet), for identifying H. ligniperda and other pests captured in traps. This method streamlines target and non-target insect detection from trap images

Predicting Cardiotoxicity of Molecules Using Attention-Based Graph Neural Networks.

In drug discovery, the search for new and effective medications is often hindered by concerns about toxicity. Numerous promising molecules fail to pass the later phases of drug development due to strict toxicity assessments. This challenge significantly increases the cost, time, and human effort needed to discover new therapeutic molecules. Additionally, a considerable number of drugs already on the market have been withdrawn or re-evaluated because of their unwanted side effects. Among the various types of toxicity, drug-induced heart damage is a severe adverse effect commonly associated with

A hybrid deep CNN model for brain tumor image multi-classification.

The current approach to diagnosing and classifying brain tumors relies on the histological evaluation of biopsy samples, which is invasive, time-consuming, and susceptible to manual errors. These limitations underscore the pressing need for a fully automated, deep-learning-based multi-classification system for brain malignancies. This article aims to leverage a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) to enhance early detection and presents three distinct CNN models designed for different types of classification tasks. The first CNN model achieves an impressive detection accuracy of 99.53% for

A novel approach for intelligent diagnosis and grading of diabetic retinopathy.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a severe ocular complication of diabetes that can lead to vision damage and even blindness. Currently, traditional deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) used for DR grading tasks face two primary challenges: (1) insensitivity to minority classes due to imbalanced data distribution, and (2) neglecting the relationship between the left and right eyes by utilizing the fundus image of only one eye for training without differentiating between them. To tackle these challenges, we proposed the DRGCNN (DR Grading CNN) model. To solve the problem caused by imbalanced da
