MotionRFT: Unified Reinforcement Fine-Tuning for Text-to-Motion Generation.

Text-to-motion generation has advanced with diffusion- and flow-based generative models, yet supervised pre-training remains insufficient to align models with high-level objectives such as semantic consistency, realism, and human preference. Existing post-training methods have key limitations: they (1) target a specific motion representation, such as joints, (2) optimize a particular aspect, such as text-motion alignment, and may compromise other factors; and (3) incur substantial computational overhead, data dependence, and coarse-grained optimization. We present a reinforcement fine-tuning f…

Reliability-weighted attribution of object motion under reduced otolith reliability.

Separating world-relative object motion from retinal motion requires an estimate of self-motion. We examined how experimentally degrading one vestibular observation channel alters this attribution in a recurrent state-space observer. We reduced effective otolith reliability by increasing generative otolith noise and held canal and visual noise fixed. The observer jointly estimated self-motion and object motion and used otolith prediction errors to form an approximate belief over two internal reliability contexts. Across 30 paired realizations, reduced otolith reliability increased false-positi…

Interfacial Plating Driving Convection-Like Motion of a Sandwiched Nanocrystal.

In crystalline solids, thermally driven atomic fluxes are generally linked to surface reshaping or coarsening, not sustained translation of … verse direction. This closed-loop transport, coupling directional surface diffusion with rigid-body motion, is supported by molecular dynamics simulations and theoretical analysis. The findings reveal a previously unrecognized regime of mass-stress coupling in solids, opening new routes for solid-based thermal actuation and informing the thermal-mechanic …

Chiral active gyrator: Memory-induced direction reversal of rotational motion.

We theoretically explore the dynamics of a chiral active Ornstein-Uhlenbeck particle confined in a two-dimensional anisotropic harmonic trap … ges its sign as a function of the memory timescale, reflecting the direction reversal of rotational motion of the particle, and it is solely due to the interplay between memory and chirality. This direction reversal is a distinct memory-induced phenomenon and does not occur in the viscous limit. Moreover, increasing (or decreasing) the temperature gradie …

DP-SfM: Dual-Pixel Structure-From-Motion Without Scale Ambiguity.

Multi-view 3D reconstruction, namely, structure-from-motion followed by multi-view stereo, is a fundamental component of 3D computer vision. In general, multi-view 3D reconstruction suffers from an unknown scale ambiguity unless a reference object of known size is present in the scene. In this article, we show that multi-view images captured using a dual-pixel (DP) sensor can automatically resolve the scale ambiguity, without requiring a reference object or prior calibration. Specifically, the defocus blur observed in DP images provides sufficient information to determine the absolute scale wh…

A highly stretchable tri-channel fiber for composite motion decoupling.

Fiber electronics have shown considerable potential in various applications, including electronic skin, human-machine interfaces, and intelligent sensing systems. However, stretchable fiber-based strain sensors confront fundamental challenges in concurrently achieving robust mechanical endurance, wide linear response range, and effective composite motions decoupling under complex deformation conditions. Here we present a highly stretchable tri-channel fiber featuring concentric and double-helical microchannels integrated with gallium-based liquid metal, constructing a dual-strain fiber sensor …

Autonomous Motion Vision with Tri-bulk-heterojunctioned Organic Adaptation Transistor.

Motion vision is increasingly critical in scenarios such as autonomous driving and embodied intelligence. Existing sensors perform motion analysis and moving‑object extraction as separate tasks, which increases computation and storage needs to challenge highly efficient applications. Here, we design an organic tri-bulk-heterojunctioned adaptation phototransistor (OTAT) that integrates both functionalities in a single device. Notably, the OTAT incorporates a gate-adjacent semiconductor-insulator heterojunction as a photosensitive percolation channel, providing fine-tuned photoadaptation under i…

Neural coding for tactile motion: Scanning speed or temporal frequency?

Humans effortlessly perceive the speed of an object moving across their fingers, but how the brain encodes this information, especially across the hierarchical stages in the primary somatosensory cortex, remains unclear. This study thus investigated coding schemes, including rate and temporal codes, for tactile motion speed in macaque S1 areas 3b, 1 and 2. Extracellular electrophysiology recorded single-unit activities when a rotating sinusoidal grating ball of a fixed spatial period (wavelength of 1, 2 or 4 mm) was presented on the finger pad at various speeds (20-320 mm/s). The results showe…

Benchmarking Image-Based Motion-Correction Methods for Ultrasound Localization Microscopy.

BACKGROUND: Ultrasound localization microscopy (ULM) achieves sub-diffraction resolution imaging in vivo through localizing and tracking microbubbles. However, the need to accumulate microbubble signals over time makes ULM highly sensitive to tissue motion, necessitating accurate motion correction. The accuracy of motion-correction techniques poses a limit to the attainable resolution, and there is currently no gold standard algorithm or approach. METHODS: This study benchmarked seven publicly available implementations of non-rigid image registration algorithms using two simulated datasets il…

Tradipitant: A Novel Neurokinin-1 Receptor Antagonist for Motion Sickness.

BACKGROUND: Motion sickness affects millions of people with common symptoms, including nausea and vomiting. Medications used for management of motion sickness since 1870 predominately have anticholinergics and antihistamines properties. For the past 40 years, there have been no advances in medication options for motion sickness until recently, a novel agent, tradipidant received the Food and Drug Administration approval for symptoms related to motion sickness. MECHANISM OF ACTION, PHARMACODYNAMICS, AND PHARMACOKINETICS: Tradipitant is a selective neurokinin-1 (NK-1) receptor antagonist, block…

Exploring Vestibulo-Masseteric Pathways: An Insight into Motion Sickness Susceptibility.

BACKGROUND: Motion sickness is an autonomic reaction to sensory conflict among vestibular, somatosensory, and visual inputs, manifesting as drowsiness, dizziness, discomfort, nausea, pallor, sweating, headache, malaise, vomiting, and apathy. Although vestibular function in motion sickness has been probed using various vestibular tests, the utility of masseter vestibular evoked myogenic potential (mVEMP)-a novel assay of the vestibulo-masseteric reflex elicited via masseter muscle stimulation-remains largely unexplored. PURPOSE: This study sought to explore mVEMP responses among individuals wi…

Respiratory-induced liver motion prediction using ECG as surrogate signal.

PURPOSE: This study investigates the use of electrocardiogram (ECG) as a surrogate signal to model the liver's respiratory-induced motion. METHODS: A learning-based model was trained to predict respiratory-induced liver motion by relying exclusively on ECG data, without requiring additional imaging. A correspondence model based on an encoder-decoder architecture was defined to map internal liver motion from ECG signals. Experimental validation was conducted through a human subject study involving eight participants performing various breathing patterns. RESULTS: The mean absolute error durin…

Computer-Vision-Enabled Worker Video Analysis for Motion Amount Quantification.

The performance of physical workers is significantly influenced by the extent and quality of their motions. However, accurately measuring and assessing these motions remains a challenge due to the limitations in conventional instrumentation; wearable sensors require calibration and restrict mobility, while marker-based motion capture systems are costly and impractical for field deployment. Recent advancements have enabled in situ video analysis for the real-time observation of worker behaviors. To address these measurement constraints, this paper introduces a novel framework for tracking and q…

Pancreas SBRT requires online adaptive treatment to adequately manage motion.

Hypofractionated stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for pancreatic cancer has shown improved local control but is challenging due to the proximity of several organs at risk (OARs). This study investigated possible dosimetric variations over a simulated SBRT course for pancreatic cancer using daily MR images considering breath hold (BH) and internal target volume (ITV) motion management techniques for three treatment regimes. Ten healthy volunteers were scanned on a Siemens Skyra 3T MRI. Each volunteer had 2 sets of scans acquired per day, 3 h apart, over five days, to represent a daily simu…

Real-Time Adaptive Respiratory Motion Compensation With Stent-Based Tracking.

Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) offers a promising treatment option for locally advanced pancreatic cancer, but its precision is challenged by respiratory-induced tumor motion. The Radixact Synchrony system integrates real-time motion tracking using internal and external surrogates, potentially enabling reduced treatment margins. In this case study, we report on an 85-year-old female patient with pancreatic cancer who underwent SBRT planning using an implanted biliary stent as a surrogate for tumor motion tracking. Initial assessments, including 4DCT analysis and Synchrony simulatio…

Biomechanical Reconstruction with Confidence Intervals from Multiview Markerless Motion Capture.

Advances in multiview markerless motion capture (MMMC) promise high-quality movement analysis for clinical practice and research. While prior validation studies show MMMC performs well on average, they do not provide what is needed in clinical practice or for large-scale utilization of MMMC - confidence intervals over specific kinematic estimates from a specific individual analyzed using a possibly unique camera configuration. We extend our previous work using an implicit representation of trajectories optimized end-to-end through a differentiable biomechanical model to learn the posterior pro…
