One hundred and seven patients with lichen sclerosus et atrophicus (LS&A) of the vulva were studies to determine the malignant potential of the LS&A. Five patients had coexisting invasive carcinoma of the vulva or perineum with the LS&A, and 1 patient had coexisting intraepithelial vulvar carcinoma on the clitoris. None of these, however, was known to have LS&A prior to the biopsy for carcinoma of the vulva. Aggressive angiomyxoma (AAM) is a rare soft tissue tumor of mesenchymal origin that chiefly involves the vulvar and perineal region. In 90% of cases, AAM presents in women of reproductive age with a peak incidence in the fourth decade of life. To date, AAM of the vulva in young children and infancy has never been reported. We present a case of AAM of the vulva that was initially interpreted as clitoromegaly in a 3-year-old girl.

Rabson-Mendenhall syndrome (RMS) is an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by extreme insulin resistance and certain characteristic phenotypic features. The primary defect lies in the insulin receptor and involves biallelic mutations that lead to a loss of function through various postulated defects. We present a 9-year-old female patient with RMS complicated by multiple cerebral infarcts, in whom genetic analysis revealed a novel insulin receptor mutation.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the prevalence of clitoral hood adhesions in college-aged women.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective review of medical records was conducted for 589 college-aged women undergoing a routine women's annual examination at a student health clinic by a single examiner (E.W.) using a standardized procedure. The severity of adhesions was classified and recorded by the examiner based on the extent of visualization of the clitoral glands and sulcus. The authors present a case of posterior cloaca in an 8-year-old girl. The diagnosis of this rare anomaly requires meticulous examination of the female genitalia and detailed radiological investigation. She underwent total urogenital mobilization (TUM) without opening the anal canal and the rectum. UNLABELLED: The tourniquet syndrome describes severe strangulations of appendages by hair, cotton or similar material mainly observed in young infants. The painful swellings of digits or external genitals are surgical emergencies because the strangulation can cause ischaemia and tissue necrosis. Among 84 patients with virilizing adrenal hyperplasia operated on for deformed genitalia and followed for 7 to 22 years (mean 12 9/12 yr), 25 (30%) required secondary operations. For the most part, the secondary procedures were to provide a vaginal orifice adequate for coitus. The difficulties were due either to failure to adequately exteriorize the orifice at the first operation or to contraction of the outlet due to scar formation. Simple operative procedures to correct these difficulties are described.
