Competencies and Ethical Governance for Psychedelic‑Assisted Therapies: A Practice‑Embedded Quality‑Improvement Framework.

RATIONALE: Psychedelic‑assisted therapy (PaT) is a rapidly expanding practice area that spans multiple disciplines and regulated and unregulated settings, without shared ownership by any single profession. As a result, training and service delivery are advancing more rapidly than the development and evaluation of research‑informed governance frameworks from public and academic bodies. Consequently, practitioners may rely on guidance that varies in transparency, evidence base and methodological rigour, leading to inconsistent safety and ethical expectations. AIMS: In response to this gap, we d

Lessons learned: Why study-abroad remains a critical component of nursing curriculums.

BACKGROUND: Caring for an increasingly older and multicultural patient population requires nurses and APNs who are able to integrate cultural competency in meeting the needs of their patients while decreasing health care disparities. A study-abroad immersion experience is one way to instill deep learning and cultural competency. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to understand the lived experience of baccalaureate nursing students and APN students working together in a study-abroad, service-learning experience. METHOD: Using Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) (Smith & Osborn, 2

Identifying core competencies for community oral health practice among dental hygienists: a scoping review.

BACKGROUND: Community oral health practice increasingly requires dental hygienists to perform prevention-oriented, population-based, and interprofessional roles beyond traditional chairside clinical care. However, existing competency frameworks primarily emphasize clinical practice or general professional competencies, and an integrated competency framework specifically designed for community oral health practice remains unavailable. This study aimed to identify core competencies for community oral health practice among dental hygienists through a scoping review. METHODS: A scoping review was

No Environment, No Education: Honoring the Clinical Learning Environment as the Engine of Competency-Based Education - A Call to Action.

Competency-Based Health Professions Education (CBHPE) has transformed health professions training by emphasizing demonstrated competence over time-based progression. Yet the clinical learning environment (CLE), the social, cultural, and organizational ecosystem in which learning occurs, has not evolved in parallel. Persistent hierarchies, workload pressures, and inadequate faculty development limit CBHPE's full potential. Thus, the authors sought to identify priorities for CLE reform. A structured consensus process was conducted at the International Competency-Based Education Collaborators Sum

Advancing Proficiencies for Health Professionals in the Treatment of Tobacco Use Among Marginalized Communities: Development of a Competency-Based Curriculum and Virtual Workshop.

BACKGROUND: Tobacco-related disparities are a leading contributor to health inequities among marginalized communities. Lack of support from health professionals is one of the most cited barriers to tobacco cessation reported by these communities. Improving the proficiencies with which health professionals incorporate social and cultural influences into therapeutic interactions has the potential to address this critical barrier. In general, training to improve these proficiencies has shown promise, but the specific proficiencies required for treating tobacco use among marginalized communities a

Cultural and religious influences on Arab American healthcare experiences: a qualitative study.

Immigrants negotiate aspects of their heritage and host cultures to adapt to their new social environment through the acculturation process. This process influences health and well-being in immigrant communities. Arab American immigrants in the United States face unique cultural dynamics that shape their experiences, including healthcare experiences. This study addresses a gap in knowledge about culture as a social determinant of health awareness, healthcare access, and healthcare quality among Arab Americans. Guided by acculturation theory, we conducted thematic analysis of semi-structured in

A community-based program evaluation of community competency trainings.

Transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals encounter a multitude of barriers to accessing clinically and culturally competent health care. One strategy to increase the quality and competence of care delivery is workplace trainings. This study describes a community-based program for the evaluation of this type of training. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research team assessed the effectiveness of three competency trainings administered by a local nonprofit organization in the Northwest United States. Quantitative data indicated a significant shift in self-assessed knowledge associate
