BACKGROUND: The application of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) in the treatment of uterine fibroids is becoming increasingly widespread, and postoperative collateral thermal damage to adjacent tissue has become a prominent subject of discussion. However, there is limited research related to bone injury. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the potential factors influencing unintentional pelvic bone injury after HIFU ablation of uterine fibroids with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
METHODS: A total of 635 patients with fibroids treated with HIFU in the First Affiliate

INTRODUCTION: High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is an innovative noninvasive procedure for local ablation of different benign and malignant tumors. Preliminary data of animal studies suggest an ablation-associated immune response after HIFU that is induced by cell necrosis and release of intracellular components. The aim of this study is to evaluate if a HIFU-induced early sterile inflammatory reaction is initiated after ablation of uterine fibroids (UF) and pancreatic carcinoma (PaC) which might contribute to the therapeutic effect.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: A hundred patients with PaC an

PURPOSE: Ultrasound (US)-guided high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) has been proposed for noninvasive treatment of neuropathic pain and has been investigated in in-vivo studies. However, ultrasound has important limitations regarding treatment guidance and temperature monitoring. Magnetic resonance (MR)-imaging guidance may overcome these limitations and MR-guided HIFU (MR-HIFU) has been used successfully for other clinical indications. The primary purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of utilizing 3D MR neurography to identify and guide ablation of peripheral nerves using

OBJECTIVES: The efficacy of focal therapy (FT) has improved with the use of multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) for lesion identification, though standardized mpMRI reporting post-FT is lacking. The Prostate Imaging after Focal Ablation (PI-FAB) scoring system was recently introduced to standardize mpMRI interpretation for local recurrence post-FT. This study evaluates the diagnostic performance and inter-reader reliability of PI-FAB following cryoablation and high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) modalities.

Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors of the uterus. Approximately 20-50% of women with myomas experience a variety of symptoms such as vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain, pelvic pain and pressure, and urological problems, possibly interfering with fertility and pregnancy. Although surgery remains the standard treatment option for fibroids, non-invasive therapeutic options, such as high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), have emerged over the last dec ade. During HIFU, ultrasound is focused on the target tissue causing coagulation necrosis. HIFU has, meanwhile, become an establish

BACKGROUND: High intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablation is a promising treatment for benign thyroid nodules but because bleeding complications can occur following any intervention to the thyroid gland, the safety and efficacy of HIFU ablation were evaluated in patients who continued taking an anti-coagulation or anti-platelet agent during treatment.
METHODS: From 2015 to 2017, 303 patients who underwent a single-session ablation for a benign thyroid nodule were analyzed. The primary study endpoint was thyroid bleeding, intra-lesional or peri-thyroidal hematoma or neck bruising diagnosed

BACKGROUND: We aimed to explore the volume reduction rate (VRR) and its influencing factors in solitary uterine fibroids classified as Funaki type I and II after ultrasonography-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (USgHIFU) ablation.
METHODS: We enrolled 191 patients with uterine fibroids who underwent USgHIFU ablation. To calculate the VRR, fibroid dimensions were measured using ultrasonography at 3, 6 and 12 post-treatment months. The primary endpoint was the VRR at 12 post-treatment months. The secondary endpoints included the non-perfused volume ratio (NPVR) and VRR at three and six
