PURPOSE: To assess tuberculous uveitis in Chinese patients.
METHODS: The hospital-based observational case series study included patients who attended a third-referral hospital and presented with chronic and recurrent uveitis without primarily detected aetiology. The patients underwent the tuberculin skin test (TST) and/or interferon gamma release test (IGRA). Patients with positive test results received standard antituberculous therapy. Patients who responded to the therapy and did not show recurrence of uveitis in the follow-up period were diagnosed as tuberculous uveitis and formed the stu

We describe a case of Cryptococcal choroiditis in a person with advanced HIV/AIDS. A 29-year-old male with AIDS presented with fever, photophobia, and ataxia secondary to cryptococcal and toxoplasma meningoencephalitis. Dilated fundoscopic examination revealed bilateral and multifocal posterior infiltrates consistent with cryptococcal choroiditis. Treatment with parenteral and intravitreal liposomal amphotericin B, oral flucytosine, and oral trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole led to resolution of his symptoms and improvement in his vision. Our case documents a rare, intraocular opportunistic infect

PURPOSE: To determine classification criteria for birdshot chorioretinitis.
DESIGN: Machine learning of cases with birdshot chorioretinitis and 8 other posterior uveitides.
METHODS: Cases of posterior uveitides were collected in an informatics-designed preliminary database, and a final database was constructed of cases achieving supermajority agreement on diagnosis, using formal consensus techniques. Cases were split into a training set and a validation set. Machine learning using multinomial logistic regression was used on the training set to determine a parsimonious set of criteria that mi

BACKGROUND: Ocular tuberculosis (OTB) is difficult to confirm microbiologically, so diagnosis often rests on characteristic posterior segment phenotypes supported by systemic immunologic evidence and therapeutic response. This case series from a high-prevalence setting illustrates the heterogeneity of posterior OTB and provides practical diagnostic anchors, treatment approaches, and complication surveillance that are directly applicable to routine uveitis care.
CASE DESCRIPTION: Six immunocompetent males (28-46 years) presented with posterior disease entities that included: choroidal granulom

The diagnosis of chorioretinal diseases largely depends on their clinical presentation rather than etiologic or systemic investigations. We report on a patient whose examination revealed a peculiar fundus pattern, almost completely different from disorders such as multifocal choroiditis, presumed ocular histoplasmosis, myopic degeneration, acute multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy, vitiliginous chorioretinitis, and punctate outer retinal toxoplasmosis. It resembled punctate inner choroidopathy, described by Watzke in 1984.

BACKGROUND: Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) is a noninvasive imaging modality used to analyze the retinochoroidal vasculature and detect vascular flow. The resulting images can be segmented to view each vascular plexus individually. While fluorescein angiography is still the gold standard for the diagnosis of posterior uveitis, it has limitations, and can be replaced by OCTA in some cases.
METHODS: This case series describes five patients with posterior noninfectious uveitis and their description by OCTA.
RESULTS: Cases included lupus retinopathy (n = 1) for which OCTA showed

BACKGROUND: Indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) is the gold standard to diagnose, evaluate and follow up choroidal inflammation. It allows clinicians to precisely determine the type and extension of choroidal vasculitis in the two main choroidal structures, the choriocapillaris and the choroidal stroma. The presence of choroidal vasculitis is often overlooked by the physician who often does not include ICGA in the investigation of posterior uveitis.
PURPOSE: To describe choroidal vasculitis by analysing its ICGA signs in order to investigate and follow choroiditis and determine the pathophys

This report describes a challenging case of refractory acute retinal necrosis (ARN) with peripapillary choroiditis as the initial presenting sign. Imaging studies confirmed multifocal choroidal lesions and noted the novel sign of vertical hyper-reflective strips (VHRS) in the outer nuclear layer. Initial treatment with acyclovir and valacyclovir failed, and involvement of the other eye suggested a resistant variant of varicella zoster virus. High-dose oral famciclovir therapy resulted in rapid resolution of ARN in both eyes. This case highlights the rare occurrence of choroiditis, the novel fi

We report a case of a 47-year-old male patient presenting with diminution of vision in the left eye. The left eye fundus showed yellowish lesions with indistinct geographical margin extending over the posterior pole just abutting the macula, suggestive of diffuse choroiditis. The patient gave a history of testicular swelling for the past 2 years. Aqueous tap for polymerase chain reaction analysis was positive for IS6110 mycobacterial tuberculosis (TB) genome, and a biopsy of testicular sac was suggestive of tubercular epididymitis. A diagnosis of TB-multifocal serpiginoid choroiditis was estab
