Technology approaches to digital health literacy.

Digital health literacy is an extension of health literacy and uses the same operational definition, but in the context of technology. Technology solutions have the potential to both promote health literacy or be a barrier. To be effective, health technology solutions should go beyond building literacy and numeracy skills to functional and critical skills, such as navigating the healthcare system, communication with healthcare providers, and shared decision making. New and emerging technologies are highlighted: AI/machine learning, voice first, remote patient monitoring, wearables, and apps an

Haptic feedback in violin education as a case study of robotic exoskeleton-mediated motor learning.

This study explores the use of an upper-limb wearable exoskeleton for teaching violin technique to novices through haptic-assisted training. The educational potential of this technology was evaluated using a framework that integrated quantitative kinematic metrics and qualitative assessments, comparing a group receiving haptic feedback (N = 12) with a control group that did not (N = 12) in a mixed between-within-subjects design. Results from a double-blind expert panel indicated that participants trained with the exoskeleton outperformed the control group during recall measurements. In additio

Redefining undergraduate nurse teaching during the coronavirus pandemic: use of digital technologies.

During the current coronavirus pandemic, undergraduate nurse teaching is facing many challenges. Universities have had to close their campuses, which means that academics are working from home and may be coping with unfamiliar technology to deliver the theoretical part of the undergraduate nursing curriculum. Emergency standards from the Nursing and Midwifery Council have allowed theoretical instruction to be replaced with distance learning, requiring nursing academics to adapt to providing a completely virtual approach to their teaching. This article provides examples of tools that can be use

Educational interventions--computers for delivering education to children with respiratory illness and to their parents.

Educational interventions for children with asthma can result in both clinical and psychological improvements. However, traditional education programs have been hampered by lack of resources and doubts concerning long-term benefits. Researchers have looked to computer technology to overcome some of these obstacles and respiratory conditions have been the focus for a number of educational computer programs. Computer education packages should have a robust theoretical basis. Many programs aim to improve children's confidence, self-esteem and feelings of control, all of which are linked to compli
