This paper reports a qualitative study on the contribution of a Program of Education through Work (PET) in Healthcare, based at a Brazilian State University, to interprofessional education. Data were collected from ten undergraduate students of Nursing, Medicine, and Phonoaudiology (speech therapy), who were part of PET at the University. Data were analyzed using the Discourse of the Collective Subject technique. Central ideas were gathered into three categories: (1) teamwork and interprofessionality; (2) PET influences on SUS (Brazilian Unified Health System); (3) teaching-service-community i

BACKGROUND: Effective teaching in health professions education is essential for preparing competent graduates and promoting safe, high-quality clinical care. Faculty development is a key strategy for enhancing teaching competencies and fostering change in educational practices. It is increasingly recognized that peer learning can contribute to the intended outcomes in faculty development. However, it remains unexplored how and in what ways interprofessional collaboration can further strengthen these programs. This study aims to examine how participation in interprofessional faculty development

This study evaluates whether medical and veterinary students' attitudes toward "One Health" and interprofessional education changed after participating in a joint small group learning exercise focused on risk factors associated with zoonotic disease. A survey was distributed to third-year medical students (n = 98) and second-year veterinary students (n = 140), each with a 95% response rate. Overall, 92% of veterinary students and 73% of medical students agreed or strongly agreed that "One Health" was relevant to their desired specialty. Students from both schools largely agreed that interprofe

With South Africa's tumultuous history and resulting burden of disease and disability persisting post-democracy in 1994, a proposed decentralization of heath care with an urgent focus on disease prevention strategies ensued in 2010. Subsequently a nationwide call by students to adapt teaching and learning to an African context spoke to the need for responsive health professions training. Institutions of higher education are therefore encouraged to commit to person-centered comprehensive primary health care (PHC) education which equates to distributed training along the continuum of care. Learning in clinical education can be understood as a process of becoming a legitimate participant in the relevant context. Interprofessional training wards (IPTWs) are designed to give students from educational programmes in health and social care a realistic experience of collaboration for the purpose of developing teamwork skills. IPTWs have been found to be appreciated by the students and to influence students' understanding of each other's professions. The aim of this study was to describe and analyse the students' learning on an interprofessional training ward in care for older persons t

There is an urgent need for educational institutions to prepare students for collaborative practices in health care in the years to come. Facilitation of interprofessional learning (IPL) can be challenging for small campuses with few healthcare and social care education programmes. The aim of this study was to identify hindrances to, and opportunities for accessible interprofessional learning, for nursing students in a uniprofessional learning environment on the Norwegian West coast. Three focus group interviews were conducted with the following groups: nursing teachers, a hospital rehabilitat

BACKGROUND: Most health professions education programmes cover common content themes, yet train in silos. Identifying opportunities for combined training among health science disciplines at the university level improves interprofessional engagement and strengthens learning outcomes for students. An integrated curricular design within health professions education programmes supports a collaborative approach to patient care within the workplace. This study aims to investigate the extent of content overlap between the Bachelor of Optometry degree and other undergraduate health science programmes

BACKGROUND: Implementing interprofessional education in clinical settings is a complex but essential undertaking for preparing health professionals for collaborative practice. In interprofessional training wards, students from multiple professions learn with, from, and about each other while providing patient care together. Supervisors are pivotal to this process, yet supervising across professional boundaries introduces challenges that remain underexplored. This study explored how supervisors from different health professions conceptualise and enact interprofessional supervision in interprofe
