Contextual insights from large language models in ambulatory assessment: Differential reactivity of affect and self-esteem to daily events in borderline personality disorder.

Ambulatory assessment (AA) research often relies on closed-ended context checklists, whereas open-ended event descriptions preserve richer idiographic context but are rarely analyzed at scale. Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is characterized by marked instability, providing a clinically informative use case for testing scalable approaches to contextual dynamics in daily life. We investigated the association of event context and sentiment (i.e., emotional connotation) derived using a large language model (LLM) with self-reported momentary calmness, affective valence, and self-esteem in a

Geospatial mapping of public sentiment and infodemic on human papillomavirus vaccination in India: An indication to formulation of strategies for effective implementation.

The implementation of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is crucial for eliminating cervical cancer in India. The infodemic, characterised by misleading information, could hinder the successful implementation of the initiative. Misinformation related to the HPV vaccine, such as rumours, has been reported and circulated, contributing to an alarming pattern of vaccine hesitancy observed on social media. This study aimed to identify the public sentiment towards HPV vaccination based on the 'Behavioral and Social Drivers (BeSD)' framework through geospatial, content and sentiment analysis. A t

Parsing Instagram Posts for Smoking Imagery Amongst Users: A Content Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Despite legal restrictions on tobacco advertising, social media platforms have emerged as largely unregulated spaces for indirect tobacco promotion. Image-based networks such as Instagram intensify this threat through visibility, influencer marketing, and normalization of smoking among youth. This study analysed the prevalence and nature of smoking imagery on Instagram to assess patterns of sentiment, product portrayal, and policy violations. METHODS: A content analysis of 750 Instagram posts containing fifteen smoking-related hashtags was conducted between February and May 2023.

"I Been Taking Adderall Mixing it With Lean, Hope I Don't Wake Up Out My Sleep": Harnessing Twitter to Understand Nonmedical Prescription Stimulant Use among Black Women and Men Subscribers.

Black women and men outpace other races for stimulant-involved overdose mortality despite lower lifetime use. Growth in mortality from prescription stimulant medications is increasing in tandem with prescribing patterns for these medications. We used Twitter to explore nonmedical prescription stimulant use (NMPSU) among Black women and men using emotion and sentiment analysis, and topic modeling. We applied the NRC Lexicon and VADER dictionary, and LDA topic modeling to examine feelings and themes in conversations about NMPSU by gender. We paid attention to the ability of natural language proc

Economic sentiment during the COVID pandemic: Evidence from search behaviour in the EU.

The COVID-19 pandemic has inflicted an economic hardship unprecedented for the modern age. In this paper, we show that the health crisis and ensuing lockdown, came with an unseen shift in households' economic sentiment. First, using a European dataset of country-level and regional internet searches, we document a substantial increase in people's business cycle related searches in the months following the coronavirus outbreak. People's unemployment concerns jumped to levels well-above those during the Great Recession. Second, we observe a significant, coinciding slowdown in labour markets and c

Text Mining of Symptom Descriptions in the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System for Human Papillomavirus Vaccination.

INTRODUCTION: The World Health Organizationhas reaffirmed the efficacy and safety of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines in a statement. While vaccine safety has been extensively studied, little is known about the descriptive language used in reports of adverse events. The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), managed by the US Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, collects free-text narratives on adverse events following vaccination. This study aimed to examine these narratives to describe vocabulary patterns associated with HPV vaccination

Sociocultural factors during COVID-19 pandemic: Information consumption on Twitter.

The purpose of the research is to describe the sociocultural factors that emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic. Twitter is used as an instrument for data collection. The study is qualitative and uses the netnographic method. To analyze the flow of messages posted on Twitter, the model proposed by Perez-Cepeda and Arias-Bolzmann (2020), which describes sociocultural factors, is taken as a basis. The semantics that people use are a type of functional knowledge that reveals sociocultural factors. Sentiments were analyzed through lexicon-based methods, which are the most suitable. The categorizati

Shifting Public Discourse on Life-Sustaining Treatment in South Korea From 2014 to 2025: Longitudinal Social Media Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Public discourse plays an important role in shaping how end-of-life care and medical decision-making are understood within society. In South Korea, the implementation of the Life-Sustaining Treatment Decision Act in 2018 established a legal framework for withholding or withdrawing life-sustaining treatment for patients at the end of life. However, relatively little is known about how public discourse surrounding life-sustaining treatment has evolved over time, particularly before and after the act's implementation. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to examine how online discourse relate
