Clinical utility of whole body diffusion-weighted imaging in an immunocompetent adult with atypical cat scratch disease.

BACKGROUND: Cat scratch disease (CSD) is an infectious disease caused by Bartonella henselae. CSD follows a typical course, characterized by regional lymphadenopathy. In atypical CSD, the lesions spread to systemic organs and can cause fever of unknown origin (FUO). A previous study showed the usefulness of whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (WB-MRI) with diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) for limited areas in the diagnosis of FUO, but there are no studies on the clinical utility of whole-body DWI (WB-DWI). We herein report the case of an immunocompetent young man in whom contrast-enhanced CT

The use of whole body diffusion-weighted post-mortem magnetic resonance imaging in timing of perinatal deaths.

OBJECTIVES: Diffusion-weighted MRI provides information regarding body water movement following death, which may be an imaging marker of post-mortem interval (time since death; PMI) or maceration (degree of tissue degradation during intra-uterine retention) in perinatal deaths. Our aim was to evaluate the relationship between maceration, PMI and body organ apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values in a cohort of subjects across a wide gestational range. MATERIALS: Whole body post-mortem MRI with diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) sequences were performed at 1.5 T, with b values of 0, 500 and

Regional impact of time-to-equilibrium on indirect Patlak whole-body parametric imaging: a multi-tissue class analysis at the entire body level.

PURPOSE: Patlak parametric imaging is widely employed for kinetic modeling due to its simplicity and robustness. The time-to-equilibrium (t*), which must be defined to estimate kinetic parameters, is currently set empirically and uniformly across the entire body. In this study, we evaluate the regional impact of varying t* values on kinetic parameter estimates using a multi-tissue segmentation approach at the whole-body level. METHODS: Data from 53 patients who underwent one-hour dynamic 18 F-FDG PET/CT scans were retrospectively analyzed. Parametric maps of the net influx rate (Ki) and blood

Diffusion Weighted Whole Body Imaging with Background Body Signal Suppression (DWIBS) Was Useful for the Diagnosis and Follow-up of Giant Cell Arteritis.

A 66-year-old woman with symptoms of fatigue and headache was diagnosed with giant cell arteritis (GCA). Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) revealed the strong accumulation of FDG in the descending aorta, abdominal aorta, bilateral subclavian artery, and total iliac artery. Diffusion-weighted whole-body imaging with background body signal suppression (DWIBS) showed signal enhancement at the descending aorta and abdominal aorta. We repeated FDG-PET and DWIBS 2 months after the initiation of therapy with prednisolone. In line with the FDG-PET fin
