We studied non-implanted ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) knee components, that were gamma-sterilized in air and shelf-aged during 6 and 7 years, to explore fracture mechanisms in the degraded material. Prior to the fractography study, we assessed degradation through FTIR and optical density measurements in microtome sections. Then, we morphologically compared the surface fractography of degraded, oxidized UHMWPE with that of non-degraded material in specimens from the same implants, fractured after uniaxial tensile tests in standardized samples. Fractography surface analysis

The sleeve anastomotic technique was used to enhance the longer term patency and healing of polyurethane-based (PU) microvenous prostheses (ID: 1 mm, length: 5 mm, wall thickness: 0.2 mm; n = 34) in the rat femoral vein. In the control group, PU prostheses (n = 12) were implanted by means of the conventional end-to-end technique, and all were found to be occluded after one day (n = 6) and three weeks (n = 6). In the other experimental groups, the prostheses were evaluated after one day (n = 6), three weeks (n = 10), and six weeks (n = 18) of implantation by means of routine light- and scanning

INTRODUCTION: Successful full-arch rehabilitation depends not only on implant survival but also on long-term prosthetic stability and biomechanical harmony. Despite advancements in implant dentistry, prosthetic complications remain a significant challenge in full-arch fixed implant-supported prostheses. Implant positioning parameters, such as implant angulation, anteroposterior spread, and cantilever extension, may influence the stress distribution and contribute to prosthetic failure. This study aimed to evaluate the association between implant positioning parameters and prosthetic failure in

PURPOSE: To compare the stress distribution between the all-on-4 and all-on-6 treatment concepts with various prosthetic-framework materials through finite element analysis.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A 3D finite-element model of an edentulous maxilla was simulated using computerized topographic data of a patient. Four implants were placed according to the all-on-4 concept. In addition to the all-on-4 concept, two more axial implants were placed in the anterior region to create the all-on-6 concept. Four framework materials were investigated: cobalt-chromium (CoCr), zirconia (Zr), titanium (Ti),

BACKGROUND: The accuracy and precision of intraoral scanners (IOSs) are critical factors for achieving a passive fit in implant-supported hybrid prostheses (ISHP). However, limited evidence is available regarding the comparative performance of different IOSs in complete-arch implant cases. This in vitro study aimed to simultaneously evaluate and compare the trueness and repeatability of six contemporary IOS systems in capturing mandibular ISHP impressions. METHODS: A mandibular acrylic model with five implant analogs was scanned using an industrial scanner (Zeiss Comet 6) to obtain a reference

OBJECTIVES: The most cost-effective option for replacing lost teeth is not evident because there is a dearth of evidence-based information on implant-supported single crowns versus tooth-supported fixed dental prostheses. This study conducted the analysis of cost-effectiveness of implant-supported single crown and tooth-supported fixed dental prostheses from a social perspective in Türkiye.
METHODS: Costs were calculated in the analysis from a social perspective for 2021. Costs and quality-adjusted prosthesis year (QAPY) values were computed over a 20-year period in the study using the Markov

INTRODUCTION: Erectile dysfunction (ED) affects to some degree approximately 52% of the male population aged 40-70 years. Many men do not respond to, or are precluded from using, pharmaceutical treatments for ED and are therefore advised to consider penile prostheses. Different types of penile prosthesis are available, such as inflatable penile prostheses (IPPs). IPPs consist of a pair of inflatable cylinders inserted into the corpora cavernosa (CC). During inflation/deflation of these cylinders, the CC and other surrounding tissues such as the tunica albuginea (TA) are highly impacted. Theref
