Rhodium(III)-Nitroxyl Radical Complex Triggers Dual-Pronged Disulfidptosis-Apoptosis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma via Metabolic Sabotage and Redox Catalysis.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) resists apoptosis-targeting therapies, necessitating the development of agents targeting alternative cell death pathways. Here, we report the discovery of a nitroxyl radical-conjugated Rh(III) complex (OG-Rh) that triggers dual disulfidptosis and apoptosis via synergistic metabolic sabotage and redox catalysis. OG-Rh inhibited glucose uptake, depleted NADPH, and induced disulfidptosis, a novel disulfide-stress-mediated death, by inducing actin cytoskeleton collapse via pathogenic disulfide over-crosslinking. Simultaneously, its tumor-selective superoxide dismutas

Rhodium-Catalyzed Two-Fold, Regioselective and Enantioselective C-H Activation: an Efficient Strategy to Chiral Single-Benzene-Based Fluorophores.

A Rh-catalyzed two-fold, regioselective and enantioselective C-H activation via chiral transient directing group strategy has been demonstrated in moderate to good yields with commendable enantioselectivities. The newly synthesized chiral fluorophores exhibit favorable photophysical properties, including large Stokes shifts, good fluorescence quantum yields, aggregation-induced emission in aqueous solution, and intense emission and circularly polarized luminescence in the solid state, indicating great potential applications as chiral fluorescent probes or optoelectronic materials.

Half-Sandwich Rhodium Complexes with Releasable N-Donor Monodentate Ligands: Solution Chemical Properties and the Possibility for Acidosis Activation.

Cancer chemotherapeutics usually have serious side effects. Targeting the special properties of cancer and activation of the anticancer drug in the tumor microenvironment in situ may decrease the intensity of the side effects and improve the efficacy of therapy. In this study, half-sandwich Rh complexes are introduced, which may be activated at the acidic, extracellular pH of the tumor tissue. The synthesis and aqueous stability of mixed-ligand complexes with a general formula of [Rh(η5-Cp*)(N,N/O)(N)]2+/+ are reported, where (N,N/O) indicates bidentate 8-quinolate, ethylenediamine and 1,10-ph

Intramolecular rhodium-catalysed [2 + 2 + 2] cycloaddition of linear chiral N-bridged triynes: straightforward access to fused tetrahydroisoquinoline core.

A route for the preparation of merged symmetrical tetrahydroisoquinolines with central chirality through a rhodium-catalyzed intramolecular [2 + 2 + 2] cycloaddition involving enantiopure triynes as substrates is described. The results show that linear triynes lacking a 3-atom tether can undergo efficient cyclisation. The N-tethered 1,7,13-triynes used in our approach were easily prepared from readily accessible chiral homopropargyl amides, the basic building blocks in our approach, which were efficiently obtained by diastereoselective addition of propargyl magnesium bromide to Ellman imines.

Rhodium(II)-Catalyzed Highly Selective 1,3-Insertion Reactions Using N-Sulfonyl-1,2,3-Triazoles with Heteroaryl Ethers or Heteroaryl Alcohols.

The transformation of N-sulfonyl-1,2,3-triazoles via insertion/rearrangement is achieved using 2-hydroxybenzimidazole or 2-alkoxybenzothiazole over 3 mol % Rh2(Oct)4 for the synthesis of α-((1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)amino) ketones or (Z)-2-alkoxy-2-phenylethenamines. This regio- and stereoselective reaction proceeds under mild conditions, is tolerant of functional groups, and has a broad substrate scope. Notably, while the general rhodium-catalyzed reaction involves sigmatropic rearrangement from an allyl vinyl ether, the present synthetic methodology prevents rearrangement owing to the benzim

Chemoselective Installation of Diverse Succinimides on Fused Benzimidazoles via Rhodium-Catalyzed C-H Activation/Annulation: Chemosensor for Heavy Metals.

A novel Rh-catalyzed cascade C-H activation/annulation of 2-arylbenzimidazoles with maleimides is reported. Rapid chemoselective access to two structurally distinct succinimide-bearing benzoimidazoisoquinolinones is achieved, depending on the acidic and basic conditions. This atom- and step-economic strategy features a wide substrate scope, excellent functional group tolerance, and site-specific functionalization. Application of the methodology yields a novel benzimidazole-based probe as a fluorescent chemosensor for the nanomolar detection of Hg2+, Cu2+, and Fe3+ ions.

Catalytic borylation of SCF₃-functionalized arenes by rhodium(I) boryl complexes: regioselective C-H activation at the ortho-position.

An unprecedented reaction pathway for the borylation of SCF3-containing arenes using [Rh(Bpin)(PEt3)3] (pin=pinacolato) is reported. Catalytic processes were developed and the functionalizations proceed under mild reaction conditions. The C-H activations occur with a unique regioselectivity for the position ortho to the SCF3 group, which apparently serves as directing group. Borylated SCF3 compounds can serve as versatile building blocks.

Effect of 2-Propanol on the Transfer Hydrogenation of Aldehydes by Aqueous Sodium Formate using a Rhodium(I)-sulfonated Triphenylphosphine Catalyst.

In water/2-propanol mixtures [RhCl(mtppms)(3)] (mtppms = monosulfonated triphenylphosphine) was an efficient catalyst for the selective C=C reduction of trans-3-phenyl-2-propenal (trans-cinnamaldehyde) by hydrogen transfer from formate at temperatures as low as 30 °C. An outstandingly high catalyst turnover frequency of 1214 h(-1) was determined at 70 °C. A possible mechanism of the reaction is suggested on the basis of kinetic studies and (1)H- and (31)P-NMR spectroscopic identification of the major Rh(I) species in the reaction mixtures as cis-mer-[H(2)RhX(mtppms)(3)] (X = HCOO(-) or H(2)O).

Conjugated Microporous Polymers Bearing Poly(Acrylic Acid) Brushes: Site-Specific Rhodium Immobilization for Efficient and Enzyme-Compatible Photocatalytic NADH Regeneration.

Photocatalytic NADH regeneration is limited by poor recovery of the rhodium mediator (Rh*) and enzyme deactivation caused by free Rh* species and photogenerated holes. In this study, we introduce poly(acrylic acid) brushes grafted onto conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) to anchor Rh* complexes (cPTT-P-Rh*). The negatively charged brushes ensure excellent dispersibility and prevent Rh* leaching via electrostatic interactions. They also serve as a conductive pathway for internal electron transfer from the photocatalyst to the anchored Rh*, which is more efficient than intermolecular transfer

Z‑Selective Synthesis of Trisubstituted Alkenes Bearing Allylic Tertiary Amines via Rhodium-Catalyzed Allylic Amination of 1,1-Disubstituted Fluoromethyl Trichloroacetimidates.

Z-trisubstituted alkenes serve as key pharmaceutical building blocks and essential feedstocks for the selective synthesis and modification of drug molecules. Among these compounds, Z-trisubstituted alkenes that contain allylic tertiary amines are significant due to the increased solubility, lipophilicity, and metabolic stability provided by the tertiary amines. However, controlled synthesis of Z-trisubstituted alkenes with allylic tertiary amines has proven difficult, primarily due to thermodynamic challenges associated with the Z-isomer and the synthetic difficulties of accessing allylic tert

Conversion of Primary Alcohols and Butadiene to Branched Ketones via Merged Transfer Hydrogenative Carbonyl Addition-Redox Isomerization Catalyzed by Rhodium.

The first examples of rhodium-catalyzed carbonyl addition via hydrogen autotransfer are described, as illustrated in tandem butadiene-mediated carbonyl addition-redox isomerizations that directly convert primary alcohols to isobutyl ketones. Related reductive coupling-redox isomerizations of aldehyde reactants mediated by sodium formate also are reported. A double-labeling crossover experiment reveals that the rhodium alkoxide obtained upon carbonyl addition enacts redox isomerization without dissociation of rhodium at any intervening stage.

Pentamethylcyclopentadienyl-rhodium and iridium complexes containing (N^N and N^O) bound chloroquine analogue ligands: synthesis, characterization and antimalarial properties.

The synthesis and characterization of twenty new pentamethylcyclopentadienyl-rhodium and iridium complexes containing N^N and N^O-chelating chloroquine analogue ligands are described. The in vitro antimalarial activity of the new ligands as well as the complexes was evaluated against the chloroquine sensitive (CQS) NF54 and the chloroquine resistant (CQR) Dd2 strains of Plasmodium falciparum. The antimalarial activity was found to be good to moderate; although all complexes are less active than artesunate, some of the ligands and complexes showed better activity than chloroquine (CQ). Adsorption Forms of Hydrogen Molecules on Gas-Phase Rhodium Cluster Cations Revealed via Messenger-Complex Infrared Multiple Photon Dissociation Spectroscopy.

The structure of hydrogen (deuterium) adsorbed on gas-phase Rh cluster cations, Rhn+ (n = 5-8), was investigated using infrared multiple photon dissociation (IRMPD) spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. For Rh6D2+, the IRMPD spectrum indicates that one D2 molecule is molecularly adsorbed side-on (η2) to a Rh atom in the octahedral Rh core, although the DFT calculations predict the dissociative adsorption form to be thermodynamically more stable. The energy barrier for the dissociation of D2 on Rh6+ from the molecular adsorption state was calculated to be +0.28 eV, whic

Asymmetric C-H Functionalization of Bicyclo[2.1.1]hexanes and Their 2-Oxa- and 2-Aza Derivatives via Rhodium Carbene Intermediates.

Bicyclo[2.1.1]hexanes have generated considerable interest in recent years as bioisosteres of benzene. In this article, a C-H functionalization approach is described to derivatize the bicyclo[2.1.1]hexanes. The approach relies on dirhodium-catalyzed C-H insertion by donor/acceptor carbenes, which proceeds in a highly diastereoselective and enantioselective manner. By the appropriate choice of substrates, the reaction can also be highly site-selective. The bicyclo[2.1.1]hexane is a difficult system for C-H functionalization via carbene intermediates because it is a strained molecule, which caus
