UNLABELLED: We describe a technique for sutureless intrascleral fixation of a 3-piece intraocular lens (IOL) and custom silicone iris prosthesis complex to address the optical and functional issues of aphakia and aniridia, as well as to restore excellent cosmesis. The 3-piece IOL is anchored to the iris prosthesis using the belt-loop technique. We believe the intrascleral haptic fixation is overall a more robust fixation method in patients with aphakia and aniridia, who are often younger and require a long-lasting anterior segment reconstruction.

PURPOSE: To introduce a new method for removal of a giant nonmagnetic intraocular foreign body using micro alligator forceps.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Eleven patients underwent pars plana vitrectomy and lensectomy. The micro alligator forceps were used to grasp and extract the giant nonmagnetic intraocular foreign body through a sclerocorneal tunnel.

PURPOSE: To study the clinical significance of incarcerated materials at sclerotomy sites during vitrectomy.
METHODS: Fifty samples prolapsed from the entries to standard three-port pars plana vitrectomies were collected along the scleral surface. Samples from rhegmatogenous retinal detachments (RD) (n = 28), traumatic RD (n = 4), miscellaneous vitreous hemorrhages (n = 12), and intraocular foreign bodies (n = 6) were stained with hematoxylineosin and examined under light microscopy after being fixed in paraffin sections or smeared on slides.

OBJECTIVE: To establish the efficacy and safety of nonpenetrating deep sclerectomy versus trabeculectomy in primary open-angle glaucoma.
DESIGN: Prospective randomized trial.
PARTICIPANTS: Thirty-nine patients (78 eyes) with bilateral primary open angle glaucoma were included in the study.
INTERVENTION: Eyes were randomly assigned to receive deep sclerectomy in one eye and trabeculectomy in the other eye.

We present a 49-year-old woman with nanophthalmos, white cataract, and malignant glaucoma in her left eye. The corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) in that eye was hand motion, and the intraocular pressure (IOP) fluctuated between 28 mm Hg and 45 mm Hg with antiglaucoma medications. This study describes a modification of deep sclerectomy, making it completely sutureless, with a 6-month follow-up period. This was a prospective pilot phase that included 24 eyes of 16 patients, 13 male individuals and 3 female individuals, with medically uncontrolled open-angle glaucomas despite maximally tolerated medical therapy. After excising the deep flap, no sutures are added to the superficial scleral flap or to the conjunctiva. A statistically significant reduction of the intraocular pressure was reported during all the follow-up visits without serious complications.

AIM: To study the long-term outcome of deep sclerectomy in patients with open angle glaucoma.
METHODS: Prospective consecutive series of 43 eyes (38 patients) with medically uncontrolled open-angle glaucoma undergoing deep sclerectomy. All patients underwent clinical assessment before and after surgery at day 7 and at months 1, 3, 6, 12, 18, 24, 36.
