This study looked for beta-lactamase production in 100 Prevotella isolates. INTRODUCTION: Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) antimicrobial susceptibility trends to azithromycin, cefixime and ceftriaxone were analyzed, from 2009 to 2016, to monitor changing antimicrobial susceptibility concomitant with the change in prescribing practice in 2012 from cefixime, or ceftriaxone, to ceftriaxone plus azithromycin. Patient characteristics predictive to be infected by antibiotic resistant N. gonorrhoeae were estimated. Aim: To ascertain the antimicrobial resistance and strain types (STs) of Neisseria gonorrhoeae from 50 remnant Aptima urine specimens using molecular methods. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of ceftriaxone for treatment of uncomplicated gonorrhoea compared with four other antibiotics. Thirteen randomized controlled trials (RCTs) totalling treatment of 2557 patients with uncomplicated gonorrhoea were included. BACKGROUND: There are a lot of controversies related to the diagnostic and therapeutic management of Whipple s disease.
PATIENTS: We present 4 cases of Whipple's disease, collected from the Gastroenterology Service of the Hospital Ramon y Cajal, from Madrid.
RESULTS: The average age was 69. The first symptoms were in order of frequency, arthralgias, loss of weight, arthritis, diarrhoea, fever, epigastric pain and neurologic symptoms. Three were treated with trimethoprim-sulphamethoxazol and one with cefixime. There were no recurrences.
