Much controversy exists over the performance of elderly living donor kidney transplantation. We report the safety of 2 cases of elderly living kidney donations in our hospital. CASE 1: An 82-year-old man was a living kidney donor for his 56-year-old son. The donor suffered from hypertension, but has successfully managed his blood pressure with only one medication. PURPOSE: Hand transplantation is challenging, especially with respect to postoperative care. Serious complications including rejection of the transplant are possible. To date, imaging has relied mainly on plain radiography, CT and MRI. High-resolution ultrasound (HRUS) has the potential to be a quick, cost-effective and dynamic alternative at least for the initial assessment of most of these complications. We report on our experience with HRUS in three patients after bilateral hand/forearm transplantation.

INTRODUCTION: Even if they represent only 2.5 % of the total body surface area, the hands are burnt in 50 % of hospitalized patients. The risk of sequelae is significant, especially in children, human being in full growth, and a source of aesthetic and functional handicap. The aim of this study is to research the predictive factors of sequelae, to study their treatment of and their evolution.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: We included children under six years of age with deep palmar burns of the hand between 1998 and 2008. Demographics, characteristics of the initial burn and its treatment were noted.
