Fully-automated in-syringe dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction for the determination of caffeine in coffee beverages.

A novel fully-automated magnetic stirring-assisted lab-in-syringe analytical procedure has been developed for the fast and efficient dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) of caffeine in coffee beverages. The procedure is based on the microextraction of caffeine with a minute amount of dichloromethane, isolating caffeine from the sample matrix with no further sample pretreatment. Selection of the relevant extraction parameters such as the dispersive solvent, proportion of aqueous/organic phase, pH and flow rates have been carefully evaluated. Caffeine quantification was linear from 2

Development of a novel naphthoic acid ionic liquid and its application in "no-organic solvent microextraction" for determination of triclosan and methyltriclosan in human fluids and the method optimization by central composite design.

In traditional ionic liquids (ILs)-based microextraction, the hydrophobic and hydrophilic ILs are often used as extractant and disperser, respectively. However, the functional effects of ILs are not utilized in microextraction procedures. Herein, we introduced 1-naphthoic acid into imidazolium ring to synthesize a novel ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium naphthoic acid salt ([C4MIM][NPA]), and its structure was characterized by IR, (1)H NMR and MS. On the basis of its acidic property and lower solubility than common [CnMIM][BF4], it was used as a mixing dispersive solvent with [C4MIM][BF

Optimization of dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction for preconcentration and spectrophotometric determination of phenols in Chabahar Bay seawater after derivatization with 4-aminoantipyrine.

We have optimized dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction to preconcentrate trace phenolic compounds after derivatization with 4-aminoantipyrine in artificial sea water for spectrophotometric determination. Factors such as reaction time (7.5 min), pH (9.5), solvent (chloroform), dispersing solvent (ethanol), and volume ratio of dispersing to organic phase (11:1) were optimized. Under optimum conditions, the limit of detection was 0.18 μg/L and the linearity range 1-900 μg/L. The relative standard deviation and enrichment factor were 6% (n=7) and 920, respectively. The results demonstrate the

Free and glycosylated aroma compounds in grapes monitored by solid-liquid extraction and dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.

Fifteen aroma compounds have been determined in their free and glycosylated forms in grapes using dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The sample treatment includes a previous solid-liquid extraction stage and subsequent parallel microextraction approaches to preconcentrate total aroma content and the free fraction. Thus, the extraction of the total content of analytes requires previous enzymatic hydrolysis of the bound forms. For preconcentration, chloroform (250 μl) and acetonitrile (1.5 ml) were added to 10 ml of the sample extract in the prese

Determination of parabens in human milk and other food samples by capillary electrophoresis after dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction with back-extraction.

Dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) with back-extraction was used prior to capillary electrophoresis (CE) for the extraction of four parabens. Optimum extraction conditions were: 200 μL chloroform (extraction solvent), 1.0 mL acetonitrile (disperser solvent) and 1 min extraction time. Back-extraction of parabens from chloroform into a 50mM sodium hydroxide solution within 10s facilitated their direct injection into CE. The analytes were separated at 12°C and 25 kV with a background electrolyte of 25 mM borate buffer containing 5.0% (v/v) acetonitrile. Enrichment factors were in th

Speciation of mercury by ionic liquid-based single-drop microextraction combined with high-performance liquid chromatography-photodiode array detection.

Room temperature ionic liquids can be considered as environmentally benign solvents with unique physicochemical properties. Ionic liquids can be used as extractant phases in SDME, being compatible with chromatographic systems. A single-drop microextraction method was developed for separation and preconcentration of mercury species (MeHg(+), EtHg(+), PhHg(+) and Hg(2+)), which relies on the formation of the corresponding dithizonates and microextraction of these neutral chelates onto a microdrop of an ionic liquid. Afterwards, the separation and determination were carried out by high-performanc

Ionic liquid solvent bar micro-extraction of CdCln(n-2)- species for ultra-trace Cd determination in seawater.

Water analysis of trace metals has been benefited by recent studies on sample preparation by liquid micro-extraction. However, there are still limitations for its application to seawater, such as the need of additives to preserve the sample or the availability of chemical extractants for the selective extraction from highly saline samples. In this work, a three phase solvent bar micro-extraction (3SBME) system containing the ionic liquid trioctylmethylammonium chloride (Aliquat® 336) has been used for isolation and pre-concentration of Cd from seawater samples, due to its ability for ionic exc
