BACKGROUND: Although Americans seek care for their nail diseases on an outpatient basis, they also seek nail care in the setting of the emergency department (ED).
PURPOSE: This study aims to characterize the treatment of nail diseases at ED visits in the United States from 2009-2018.
METHODS: Data from 2009-2018 was collected from the National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey for EDs.
RESULTS: There was an estimated 1.54 (95% CI [1.35, 1.74]) million nail visits to the ED from 2009-2018. Whites accounted for the most visits (57%), followed by African Americans (21%). 25-44-year-olds

Besides the known cosmetic implications, pincer nails are often complicated by pain, chronic inflammation and recurrent suppurative infections. We report two such cases of chronic paronychia of the thumb secondary to pincer nails. Both were complicated by osteomyelitis. BACKGROUND: A new pattern of ingrown nail, called retronychia is involved in the posterior translation of the whole nail unit producing paronychia.
OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate an unusual case of paronychia that affected three of the fingers on the right hand.

Retronychia is a recently described cause of ingrowth of the nail plate on the ventral surface of the proximal nail fold. Clinical features are repeated episodes of proximal paronychia, nail plate thickening, and occasionally granulation tissue emergence. Retronychia (RN) refers to the incarnation of the nail plate in the proximal nail fold. We report four clinical cases of this little-known pathology, where there may be a long delay in diagnosis. Temsirolimus belongs to the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) inhibitors, targeted therapies for which indications are booming in oncology. While their tolerance is usually good, mucocutaneous toxicity is the most common, including stomatitis, rashes, edemas, pruritus, dry skin and nail disorders. The latter are common in clinical practice but have not yet been well characterized. We report 2 cases of patients who developed, after 6-7 months with temsirolimus, a dystrophy of the 20 nails with fragility, distal onycholysis, yellow discoloration, associated in 1 case with painful paronychia.
