RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: The wide use of computer technology in education, particularly in mammogram reading, asks for e-learning evaluation. The existing media comparative studies, learner attitude evaluations, and performance tests are problematic. Based on an affordance design model, this study examined an existing e-learning program on mammogram reading.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: The selection criteria include content relatedness, representativeness, e-learning orientation, image quality, program completeness, and accessibility. A case study was conducted to examine the affordance features,

The delivery of the head with or without forceps may have been quite easy, but more commonly there has been a little difficulty in completing the extension of the head. The hairy scalp slides with reluctance. When the forehead has appeared it is necessary to press back the perineum to deliver the face. Fat cheeks eventually emerge. A double chin has hooked over the posterior commissure, to which it remains tightly opposed. Restitution seldom occurs spontaneously for the head seems incapable of movement as a result of friction with the girdle of contact at the vulva... time passes. The child's

Emerging evidence suggests that sleep plays a key role in procedural learning, particularly in the continued development of motor skill learning following initial acquisition. We argue that a detailed examination of the time course of performance across sleep on the finger-tapping task, established as the paradigm for studying the effect of sleep on motor learning, will help distinguish a restorative role of sleep in motor skill learning from a proactive one. Healthy subjects rehearsed for 12 trials and, following a night of sleep, were tested. Early training rapidly improved speed as well as

INTRODUCTION: The curriculum of the Doctor of Medicine program at The University of Kansas School of Medicine includes a substantial portion of content delivered via small-group, case-based collaborative learning (CBCL) activities. As critical stakeholders in continuous quality improvement in their education, medical students are poised to make contributions to curriculum enhancement, though they are often underutilized resources.
METHODS: Without a faculty-led curriculum revision committee, we piloted a student-led Case-Based Collaborative Learning Review Committee (SCRC) to systematically i

BACKGROUND: Dental hard tissue non-carious diseases pose a growing clinical challenge, yet traditional lecture-based dental education often fails to effectively teach their complex diagnosis and management. Considering the limitations of conventional methods in engaging students and promoting practical application, this study explored the potential of integrating Rain Classroom with Case-based Learning (CBL) to enhance teaching effectiveness. The objective was to evaluate whether this combined approach could improve students' comprehension, retention, and application of knowledge, thereby boos

BACKGROUND: Weight-related stigma toward people living with obesity is widespread in healthcare settings and has been documented among students and professionals across health disciplines. Such stigma may negatively affect communication, clinical decision-making, and quality of care. Educational strategies aimed at addressing weight bias and fostering empathy during the training of health professionals are therefore of growing interest. In recent years, obesity simulation suits have been introduced as experiential learning tools intended to sensitize learners to physical and psychosocial chall

Waste separation is a critical strategy to address the intensifying global waste crisis. However, inclusive teaching strategies for visually impaired students remain limited. This study addresses this pressing gap by implementing an innovative intervention rooted in experiential learning principles. This approach integrates sound-equipped bins and waste sorting activity guides tailored to empower visually impaired students to independently and effectively separate waste. The research study employed a mixed-methods design encompassing three key phases: (1) training teachers to proficiently use

Conversational virtual human (VH) agents are increasingly used to support role-play experiential learning. This project examined whether a Virtual Interactive Training Agent (ViTA) system would improve job interviewing skills in individuals with autism and developmental disabilities (N = 32). A linear mixed model was employed to evaluate adjusted least square mean differences of means scores on the Marino Interview Assessment Scale (MIAS) across different time points. The mean score of MIAS over all questions increased between the first ViTA session and the final face-to-face interview. Partic

The popularity of the problem-based learning paradigm has stimulated new interest in small group, interactive teaching techniques. Medical educators of physiology have long recognized the value of such methods, using animal-based laboratories to demonstrate difficult physiological principles. Due to ethical and other concerns, a replacement of this teaching tool has been sought. Here, the author describes the use of a full-scale human patient simulator for such a workshop. The simulator is a life-size mannequin with physical findings (palpable pulses, breath/heart sounds, blinking eyes, etc.)

Innovative educational strategies are increasingly needed in physiotherapy education to support students' learning and professional development. Game-based learning (GBL) is an interactive, student-centered approach that may enhance engagement and active participation. This randomized controlled trial investigated the effects of a structured GBL intervention on self-reported learning strategies and professional attitudes in kinesiophobia management education among physiotherapy students. Ninety-six final-year physiotherapy students were randomly assigned to an intervention group (n = 48) or a

Poor preparation of nurses, regarding learning disabilities can have devastating consequences. High-profile reports and the Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements led this University to introduce Shareville into the undergraduate and postgraduate nursing curriculum. Shareville is a virtual environment developed at Birmingham City University, in which student nurses learn from realistic, problem-based scenarios featuring people with learning disabilities. Following the implementation of the resource an evaluation of both staff and student experience was undertaken. Students reported that pr

To evaluate the effectiveness of combining problem-based learning with the flipped classroom (PBL-FC) teaching method in the "Ocular Trauma" module in ophthalmology education, specifically in enhancing clinical medicine students' self-directed learning ability and empathy. A quasi-experimental study with a controlled educational intervention was conducted, and third-year clinical medicine students from eight classes were divided into PBL-FC (n = 43) and traditional groups (n = 44). Both groups were assessed before and after class using Self-Directed Learning Ability and Empathy Quotient (EQ)-4

INTRODUCTION: Biochemistry is often regarded as conceptually dense yet emotionally disconnected, limiting its relevance to patient care. To bridge this gap, an art-based learning intervention was developed to connect biochemistry of diseases with empathy, perspective-taking, and ethical awareness through visual thinking strategies, structured peer role-play, and guided reflection.
METHODS: This small-group activity was conducted for 150 first-year medical students over a total duration of 180 minutes. Students were divided into 30 groups and each group received a curated artwork and a biochem

Although spherical video-based virtual reality (SVVR) has demonstrated efficacy in enhancing English-as-a-foreign-language (EFL) learning outcomes, its impact on foreign language classroom anxiety (FLCA) within speaking contexts remains underexplored. This mixed methods study implemented a 16-week experiential learning (EL)-based SVVR intervention to examine its effects on FLCA that resides in four dimensions and on the speaking performance among Chinese EFL learners. Using a pre-post control-group design with 69 sophomores, quantitative data from Horwitz et al.'s (1986) FLCAS and speaking tes

BACKGROUND: Often prelicensure students may not appreciate the importance of research and may question the need for a research course. Application of experiential learning strategies to blend immersion experiences with active learning provides students opportunities to develop critical thinking and decision making, strengthening the practice-research interconnection.
METHOD: We searched nursing education literature to identify experiential learning strategies used in teaching nursing research to prelicensure students. Databases searched include PubMed (National Library of Medicine), CINAHL (E

UNLABELLED: The flipped classroom is a pedagogical model that fosters active learning by transferring theoretical content to a virtual environment. In medical education, this approach aims to enhance student engagement and promote the development of higher-order cognitive skills. While its implementation has demonstrated benefits, the existing evidence has predominantly focused on health sciences students in general rather than specifically on medical students, with most studies being non-experimental and published in English.
AIM: To evaluate the impact of the flipped classroom compared to t
