Prevalence of benign bone lesions of the lower extremity in the pediatric spinal disorders: a whole-body imaging study.

There is a paucity of knowledge about benign bone lesions. The advances in imaging methods can screen bone lesions incidentally, and missing information can be provided. The aim of the study is to collect information about the prevalence and natural history of benign bone lesions with the use of whole-body biplanar slot-scanning imaging (EOS). EOS images acquired between 2015 and 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Anatomical locations of lesions, number of lesions with polyostotic involvement and radiographic features of each were recorded. Fibrous lesions were further categorized according t

The influence of arm positions on abdominal image quality of whole-body computed tomography in trauma: systematic review.

PURPOSE: Whole-body computed tomography (WBCT) is the standard diagnostic method for evaluating polytrauma patients. When patients are unable to elevate their arms, the arms are placed along the body, which affects the image quality negatively. Aim of this systematic review is to evaluate the influence of below the shoulder arm positions on image quality of WBCT. METHODS: Literature in PubMed and Scopus databases was systematically searched. Results of the papers were stratified into 4 categories: arms elevated, 1 arm up 1 arm down, arms ventrally supported, arms along the body. A qualitative

Survival Prediction of TAVI Patients Using End-to-End Deep Image Regression on Whole-Body CT.

INTRODUCTION: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is a standard treatment for patients with severe aortic stenosis. However, predicting long-term survival outcomes remains challenging, as traditional risk scores such as EuroSCORE II and STS-PROM exhibit poor calibration for TAVI cohorts. METHODS: In this work, we developed an end-to-end deep learning pipeline to predict overall survival of TAVI patients directly from pre-procedural whole-body CT scans. The pipeline uses a 3D DenseNet121 architecture within the AUCMEDI framework, trained as a regression model to predict survival in

Imaging the impact of sex and age on OATP function in humans: Consequences for whole-body pharmacokinetics and liver exposure.

Organic anion-transporting polypeptides (OATP) transporter function, which mediates many drugs' liver uptake, was investigated as a molecular determinant of pharmacokinetic variability. Whole-body PET imaging using 11C-glyburide, a metabolically stable OATP probe, was performed in 16 healthy humans. Ten subjects underwent another 11C-glyburide PET acquisition after OATP inhibition using rifampicin. Subjects were sorted according to age and sex: males<30y (24.0 ± 3.2 y, n = 7), males>50y (57.5 ± 5.6 y, n = 4), and females>50y (60.6 ± 2.4 y, n = 5). The blood-to-liver transfer rate (k uptake) wa

Carcinoma of unknown primary detected by whole-body diffusion-weighted imaging: A case report and review of the literature.

Carcinoma of unknown primary accounts for 2%-5% of all head and neck tumors. Identification of the primary site is challenging. We present a case report of a 43-year-old man with metastatic cervical lymphadenopathy for 3 year, and the primary tumor was unknown after routine examinations, including positron emission tomography/computed tomography. Whole-body diffusion-weighted imaging was performed to detect small lesions in the nasopharynx, and a biopsy confirmed the lesions as squamous cell carcinoma. Therefore, the primary tumor site was found in a patient with carcinoma of unknown primary,
