Mother-Reported and Children's Perceived Social and Academic Competence in Clinic-Referred Youth: Unique Relations to Depression and/or Social Anxiety and the Role of Self-perceptions.

Depression and social anxiety symptoms and disorders are highly comorbid, and are associated with low social acceptance and academic competence. Theoretical models of both depression and social anxiety highlight the saliency of negative self-perceptions. We examined whether children's self-perceptions of social acceptance and mother-reported youth social acceptance are independently and uniquely related to children's depression and social anxiety, both before and after controlling for comorbid symptoms. Similar questions were examined regarding academic competence. The sample was 110 clinic-re

Japanese Clinical Physical Therapists With the Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy License Are More Competent and Confident in Pain Management Than Those Without It: A Cross-Sectional Study.

Background The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) has long been misunderstood as a biomedical approach. In fact, it is a biopsychosocial approach with an up-to-date evidence-based educational curriculum. Recently, it has become possible to partially measure competence in clinical decision-making based on contemporary pain understanding and confidence in pain management using the Pain Understanding and Confidence Questionnaire (PUnCQ). The primary aim of this study was to compare the following outcomes between physical therapists with and without credential license in MDT

"It's Not Only about Clinical Tools but Also Our Role as Agents of Social Change": Implementing a LGBT Competency Training for Future Mental Health Practitioners in Mexico.

Recent studies recommend implementing a curriculum that is inclusive of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) identities in health-related higher education programs. Inclusive health services are a means to address stigma-related adverse health outcomes in these populations. In Mexico, research has revealed that sexual and gender minority individuals experience discriminatory conditions that put them at risk for mental health problems. The present study tested the impact of a LGBT training protocol in Mexico; 17 psychology majors living in Mexico City received 12-plus hours of trainin

Evaluation of laboratory workers competency on loop mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) technology for malaria diagnostics: a technology transfer assessment study (LAMP-TTA) during a multi-site clinical trial.

BACKGROUND: Molecular malaria diagnostic approaches present high sensitivity and detect submicroscopic parasitaemia in a patient. However, molecular techniques like polymerase chain reaction are costly, require specific equipment and the reaction read-out interpretation can require extensive experience. Hence, a simple and user-friendly loop mediated isothermal amplification molecular technique resolves limitations of the polymerase chain reaction. However, performing accurate and high-quality loop mediate isothermal amplification reactions requires appropriate training and follow up, particul

A digital imagery-competing task intervention for stopping intrusive memories in trauma-exposed health-care staff during the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK: a Bayesian adaptive randomised clinical trial.

BACKGROUND: Psychological trauma, such as witnessing an untimely or gruesome death, commonly provokes intrusive memories that might persist for days to years with adverse effects on individual mental and physical health and functioning. Despite the global prevalence of trauma, scalable evidence-based interventions are absent. Reducing the impact of intrusive memories is crucial for people frequently exposed to trauma, such as health-care workers. This study aimed to determine whether a brief digital imagery-competing task intervention (ICTI) reduced intrusive memory frequency after 4 weeks. Ha
