Most Japanese parents wish their children to retain their foreskin during hypospadias repair. We report on short-term results of foreskin reconstruction associated with hypospadias repair.

We report the effects of two factors, donor age and anatomical site, on the proliferation and melanization of human melanocytes (MC) derived from (1) neonatal foreskins, (2) adult foreskins, or (3) adult breast or arm skin. Penile trauma is an uncommon but potentially serious injury presenting to pediatric emergency room. Strangulation injuries of the penis can be self-inflicted or occur accidentally. However, self-inflicted strangulation of the foreskin in children is rare. This is a case of 7-year-old uncircumcised boy who himself tied foreskin of prepuce with a cotton thread. The thread was cut and circumcision performed to remove the damaged foreskin.

Paraphimosis usually develops when a tight foreskin is retracted over the glans penis for a prolonged period. Many esoteric aetiologies have been implicated in the development of paraphimosis including piercing the foreskin, Plasmodium falciparum infection, application of celadine juice to the foreskin, chancroid, pessaries and the implantation of pearls.
