Validation of Item 4 of the Neurological disorders depression Inventory for epilepsy as a rapid screening tool for suicidality in Russian persons with epilepsy.

BACKGROUND: Suicide rates among persons with epilepsy (PWE) are high and a reliable and valid tool to screen for suicidality in this population is needed. The aim of this study is to validate the Russian version of the Neurological Disorders Depression Inventory for Epilepsy (NDDI-E) Item 4 as a screening tool for suicidality in PWE. METHODS: A consecutive sample of the Russian PWE has completed the NDDI-E. The Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) was used as the gold standard for assessing suicide risk. Statistical methods used were Fisher's exact test, Mann-Whitney test and Benja

Reliability and clinical usefulness of the personality inventory for DSM-5 in clinically referred adolescents: A preliminary report in a sample of Italian inpatients.

BACKGROUND: The DSM-5 Alternative Model of Personality Disorders (AMPD) provides the opportunity to integrate the needed developmental perspective in the assessment of personality pathology. Based on this model, Krueger and colleagues (2012) developed the Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5), which operationalizes the proposed DSM-5 traits. METHODS: Eighty-five consecutively admitted Italian adolescent inpatients were administered the Italian translation of the PID-5, in order to obtain preliminary data on PID-5 reliability and clinical usefulness in clinically referred adolescents. Clinical Utility of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-Adolescent Restructured Form in the Assessment of Internalizing and Externalizing Disorders in Adolescents: A Preliminary Approach.

OBJECTIVES: This study investigated whether the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-Adolescent Restructured Form (MMPI-ARF) can differentiate between two groups of adolescents, one diagnosed with internalizing disorders and another with externalizing disorders, and examined the clinical utility of the MMPI-A-RF by examining which subscales can significantly discriminate between these two groups. METHODS: A total of 105 adolescents aged 13-18 years completed the MMPI-A-RF (53 internalizing disorder and 52 externalizing disorder groups). Independent t-test, chi-square test (χ2), and dis

Hypospadias: incidence and effects on psychosexual development as evaluated with the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory test in a sample of 11,649 young Italian men.

PURPOSE: We evaluated the incidence of hypospadias and its effects on psychosexual development in a sample of 11,649 young Italian males. Over the last 30 years only about 30 major publications have addressed these issues and the results of many studies have been contrasting. Some defects in methodology, such as low response rates, heterogeneity of age ranges and the choice of controls, have been the main limitations. Our study was designed to take these problems into account. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Forty-two hypospadic subjects and a random sample of 500 nonaffected males selected from the l

Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2-Restructured Form Profiles Among Adults With Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: Examining the Effect of Comorbid Psychopathology and ADHD Presentation.

OBJECTIVE: Despite widespread use of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2-Restructured Form (MMPI-2-RF), it is surprisingly understudied among adults with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This is significant as ADHD is a frequent referral for neuropsychological evaluation; however, the core symptom of attention difficulty is a nonspecific sequela of many psychological disorders. This study aimed to characterize MMPI-2-RF profiles among adults with ADHD and examine the effect of comorbid psychopathology. METHOD: A large, demographically diverse sample of 413 consec

Personality features in ultra-high risk for psychosis: a comparative study with schizophrenia and control subjects using the Temperament and Character Inventory-Revised (TCI-R).

Several variables have been identified as risk factors for conversion to overt psychosis in ultra-high risk for psychosis (UHR) individuals. Although almost two-thirds of them do not experience a transition to psychosis, they still exhibit functional disabilities. Other subjective developmental features may be useful for a more precise identification of individuals at UHR. Avoidant behaviors are consistently reported in schizophrenia and in UHR individuals and may be the reflection of a pattern of personality. Thus, personality features in UHR individuals deserves further research. The objecti

Revisiting Rorschach test and Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-II patterns in Kraepelinian vs. DSM-wise Schizophrenia: How They Differ and What It Means for Diagnosis.

OBJECTIVE: This retrospective chart review study aimed to investigate the differences in the Rorschach test and Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI)-II profiles among patients with Kraepelinian schizophrenia, those with DSM-wise schizophrenia, and controls. Kraepelinian schizophrenia is characterised by a chronic, deteriorative disease course and a predominance of negative symptoms. METHODS: Patients with Kraepelinian schizophrenia were selected based on medical record reviews. We then compared their Rorschach test and MMPI-II results with those of the DSM-wise schizophrenia gro

Six-year postoperative associations between the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory - 3 (MMPI-3) and weight recurrence, eating behaviors, adherence, alcohol misuse, and quality of life.

BACKGROUND: Metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) leads to beneficial and sustained outcomes. However, many patients evidence weight recurrence and psychosocial functioning may be associated with weight recurrence. The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory - 3 (MMPI-3) is validated for use in presurgical MBS evaluations and likely has clinical utility in understanding weight recurrence and other aspects of postoperative functioning. OBJECTIVE: The objective of the current investigation is to understand how postoperative psychosocial functioning relates to weight recurrence and other beh

Psychometrics of the Personality Inventory for the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders to measure the international classification of diseases trait model: A meta-analysis.

Although the Personality Inventory for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th ed.; PID-5) was initially designed to assess the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th ed.) trait model, a modified scoring algorithm was developed to evaluate the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (11th ed.; ICD-11) trait model constructs. This meta-analysis aimed to examine the internal (structural and discriminant types) and external (convergent and criterion types) validity of the PID-5 to measure the ICD-11 trait model constr

General and transgender-specific quality of life in trans persons assigned female at birth: validation of the Essen Transgender Quality of Life-Inventory.

BACKGROUND: Transgenderism has always been part of society, with some individuals experiencing gender dysphoria (GD). When present, it is associated with diminished quality of life (QoL), along with minority stress, compared to the cisgender population. AIM: The primary objective of this study was the validation of the Essen Transgender Quality of Life-Inventory (ETLI), originally designed for assigned male at birth (AMAB) transgender individuals, in the German population on those assigned female at birth (AFAB). METHODS: A multi-center survey study with 139 participants was conducted. The a

Assessing persons with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection using the Beck Depression Inventory: disease processes and other potential confounds.

Symptoms of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection and somatic symptoms of depression overlap, confounding clinical assessments of persons with HIV infection. This research examined the extent of this confounding. In Study 1, 71 persons with HIV infection demonstrated high rates of depression on the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). However, depression scores correlated with symptoms of HIV infection. In Study 2, 63 persons with HIV infection also demonstrated high rates of depression on the BDI, and depression was again related to symptoms of HIV disease; specifically, persistent fatigue

The Brazilian version of the Inventory of Depression and Anxiety Symptoms-Expanded Version: Internal structure, invariance by sex and race, and associations with pathological personality traits.

The Inventory of Depression and Anxiety Symptoms-Expanded version (IDAS-II) is one of the few tools designed to assess internalizing symptoms based on dimensional models. We conducted two studies, the first testing internal validity aspects of the IDAS-II and the second testing the external validity of the scales. In the first study we adapted the IDAS-II to Brazilian Portuguese and tested its internal structure, including a higher order factorial solution coherent with the internalizing spectrum, the stability of the factor structure, and its measurement invariance for sex and racial groups.

Associations Among Developmental Coordination Disorder Traits, Neurodevelopmental Difficulties and University Personality Inventory Scores in Undergraduate Students at a Japanese National University: A Cross-Sectional Correlational Study.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Developmental coordination disorder (DCD) commonly co-occurs with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and specific learning disorder (SLD), affecting academics, mental health, and lifestyle. Although screeners such as the Adolescents and Adults Coordination Questionnaire (AAC-Q) are widely used elsewhere, recognition and support for DCD in Japan remain limited. This study examined associations among DCD traits, ADHD/ASD-related difficulties, learning difficulties, mental health difficulties, and lifestyle factors in university

Principal components analysis of the hypomanic attitudes and positive predictions inventory and associations with measures of personality, cognitive style and analogue symptoms in a student sample.

BACKGROUND: An integrative cognitive model proposed that ascribing extreme personal appraisals to changes in internal state is key to the development of the symptoms of bipolar disorder. The Hypomanic Attitudes and Positive Predictions Inventory (HAPPI) was developed to measure these appraisals. AIMS: The aim of the current study was to validate an expanded 61-item version of the HAPPI. METHOD: In a largely female student sample (N = 134), principal components analysis (PCA) was performed on the HAPPI. Associations between the HAPPI and analogue bipolar symptoms after 3 months were examined.
