BACKGROUND: Panuveitis is a severe intraocular inflammatory condition that can have infectious, autoimmune, or neoplastic aetiologies. In rare cases, it may represent an early manifestation of systemic infection, such as endogenous endophthalmitis.
CASE PRESENTATION: A woman in her early sixties presented with a painful, red eye and reduced vision, initially diagnosed as unilateral panuveitis. Despite topical corticosteroid and antiviral therapy, her symptoms progressed to involve both eyes. Extensive laboratory and imaging work-up was inconclusive, until fever and systemic deterioration led

Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome (VKH) is an uncommon multi-system autoimmune inflammatory disorder characterized by bilateral granulomatous panuveitis with serous retinal detachment accompanied by neurological, auditory, and cutaneous manifestations like headache, hearing loss, vitiligo, and poliosis. It has a female preponderance, usually in middle age. We report the case of a 20-year-old male who presented to us with rapidly progressive visual loss accompanying granular panuveitis, complicated cataract, and a mixed mechanism neovascular glaucoma with acute angle closure. He was treated for IOP

INTRODUCTION: & IMPORTANCE: Ocular tuberculosis and Vogt Koyanagi Harada disease (VKHD) both are the important cause of panuveitis. In tubercular endemic region like Nepal, latent tuberculosis (TB) may be accompanied with the features of VKHD. Hence, the aim of our publication is the use the term Tubercular Harada disease (THD) for such panuveitis with mixed features.
CASE PRESENTATION: We aim to report two cases of panuveitis from Nepal with the simultaneous features of tuberculous uveitis and Harada disease managed with combined antitubercular agents and antimetabolites.

PURPOSE: To identify the causes of visual loss associated with uveitis and its risk factors.
METHODS: Review of 359 patients attending a uveitis service.
RESULTS: Anterior uveitis (n = 229, 63.8%) was most common, followed by panuveitis (n = 55, 15.3%). There were 82 infective cases with 29.3% associated with tuberculosis. Visual loss occurred in 100 (27.9%) patients, of which 27 (7.5%) had severe visual loss. The main causes of visual loss were cataract (26%) and glaucoma (12%). Cystoid macular edema (14.8%) accounted for severe visual loss. Panuveitis was predictive for visual loss (p = 0.

Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome is a cause of noninfectious panuveitis, leading to significant vision loss in many patients. It is an autoimmune disease occurring in genetically susceptible individuals and clinically presents as bilateral panuveitis with serous retinal detachments and hyperemic, swollen optic discs, which are associated with neurological and auditory manifestations. Early diagnosis and prompt and adequate treatment with immunosuppressive agents (corticosteroids and other immunosuppressive drugs) may halt disease progression and prevent recurrences and vision loss. This review su

Blau syndrome (MIM 186580) is a rare autoinflammatory, familial granulomatous condition that occurs secondary to a single amino acid mutation of the NOD2/CARD15 gene on chromosome 16p12-q21. We report the case of a 2.5-year-old girl who presented for ophthalmic examination in the setting of rash and synovitis. Initially, small, evanescent, ovoid corneal subepithelial opacities unique to Blau syndrome were observed. She later developed a fulminant panuveitis that responded to immunomodulatory therapy. Subsequent genetic testing confirmed the diagnosis of Blau syndrome. Despite immunosuppression

PATIENTS AND METHODS We present a 57-year-old white man with progressive deterioration of vision, who had a prolonged history of weakness, migratory arthralgias and loss of weight. Bilateral panuveitis, with iritis, inflammatory vitreous opacities associated with small, round, grayish retinal lesions. The duodenum showed a swollen mucosa, which was flecked over with pinpoint grayish grains. A small-bowel biopsy disclosed PAS-positive granules in the macrophages of the lamina propria mucosa, pathognomonic of Whipple's disease. RESULTS After antibiotic treatment with trimethoprim and sulfamethox
