The Influence of Math Anxiety, Math Performance, Worry, and Test Anxiety on the Iowa Gambling Task and Balloon Analogue Risk Task.

Multiple studies have shown that performance on behavioral decision-making tasks, such as the Iowa Gambling Task (IGT) and Balloon Analogue Risk Task (BART), is influenced by external factors, such as mood. However, the research regarding the influence of worry is mixed, and no research has examined the effect of math or test anxiety on these tasks. The present study investigated the effects of anxiety (including math anxiety) and math performance on the IGT and BART in a sample of 137 undergraduate students. Math performance and worry were not correlated with performance on the IGT, and no va

Validation of the Korean version of the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7 self-rating Scale.

This study examined the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) scale. The GAD-7 was standardized with data from 112 patients at a psychiatric outpatient clinic. The GAD-7 revealed high internal consistency, good test-retest reliability, and convergent validity. The ROC analysis resulted in poor sensitivity and specificity for detecting anxiety disorders in a psychiatric setting. The GAD-7 may not be useful in diagnosing anxiety disorders in a psychiatric setting, even though it appears to be a reliable, efficient, and valid measurement tool

The relationship between anxiety and problematic mobile phone use among Chinese college students: a moderated mediation model.

BACKGROUND: Mobile phones have emerged as a pivotal medium for internet access among college students in China. However, excessive usage of mobile phones, leading to problematic mobile phone use (PMPU), has adverse effects on both their physical and mental health. Anxiety is associated with PMPU among college students, yet the mechanisms remain unclear. This study examines whether the fear of missing out on social media (FoMO-SM) and physical exercise mediates this relationship. METHODS: This study utilized a convenience sampling method to assess anxiety, PMPU, FoMO-SM, and physical exercise

The genesis and presentation of anxiety in disorders of autonomic overexcitation.

INTRODUCTION: We investigated the genesis and presentation of previously-reported anxiety in disorders of autonomic overexcitation in relation to interoception, body vigilance and trauma to test our hypothesis that patients with the postural tachycardia syndrome (PoTS), vasovagal syncope (VVS) and essential hyperhidrosis (EH) represent atypical anxiety phenotypes in whom affective symptoms are more related to apprehension and vigilance of physiological (interoceptive) feedback than neurotic or trauma-related factors. METHODS: The Anxiety Sensitivity Index, Body Vigilance Scale, Self-conscious

Brief digital narrative intervention for adolescent depression, anxiety, and insomnia during academic stress: a cluster randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: High-stakes examinations represent a significant but underrecognized threat to adolescent mental health, contributing to elevated symptoms of depression, anxiety, and insomnia. Despite the global scale of this problem, effective interventions during these critical periods remain scarce, largely due to implementation barriers in both clinical and educational settings. Scalable, low-resource solutions are urgently needed to address this mental health gap in adolescent care. METHODS: In a cluster randomized controlled trial (ChiCTR2200058881, N = 587), we examined the efficacy of the
