The metabolism of trichloroethylene (TRI) and its metabolites, chloral hydrate (CH), trichloroethanol (free-TCE) and trichloroacetic acid (TCA), were examined in the isolated perfused rat liver, to clarify the role of the liver in the metabolism of TRI. The prescribing of psychoactive drugs for 1431 chronically ill elderly patients being assessed for long-term institutional or community care was surveyed. Psychoactive drugs had been prescribed for about one quarter of the patients; benzodiazepines were the most frequently prescribed group. Sanfilippo syndrome (mucopolysaccharidosis type III) is the commonest mucoploysaccharidosis. It causes neurodegeneration with often profound sleep and behavioral disturbance. Antibody microprobes of novel design were used to monitor thyrotrophin releasing hormone (TRH) in rat brain before and after-parenteral administration of amphetamine.
