Papular epidermal nevus with "skyline" basal cell layer is a newly described keratinocytic nevus. Recently, papular epidermal nevus with "skyline" basal cell layer has been reported in association with extracutaneous involvement, and the term papular epidermal nevus with "skyline" basal cell layer syndrome is used to indicate a neurocutaneous syndrome characterized by the presence of papular epidermal nevus with "skyline" basal cell layer and different neurologic symptoms that seem to improve during infancy and adolescence. Multiple pilomatricomas have been reported in association with various

Café-au-lait macules (CALMs) are benign epidermal basilar hyperpigmentations that can be found in an isolated form or in association with neurocutaneous syndromes. Frequency-doubled Q-switched neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser (532-nm QSNYL) does not penetrate deeply into the skin and is therefore suitable for epidermal pigmented lesion. Fractional photothermolysis (FP) targets only very small areas of the skin, without injuring adjacent areas of healthy, normal skin. Herein, we report a case of CALMs successfully treated with fractional 532-nm QSNYL. By applying FP to 532-nm QSNYL

Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder manifested by characteristic cutaneous lesions called neurofibromas. There are two distinct neurocutaneous syndromes named neurofibromatosis type 1 (also called von Recklinghausen disease or NF1) and neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2). NF1 is by far the most common presentation and is caused by an autosomal dominant mutation in the NF1 gene mapped to chromosome 17q11.2. The literature shows that gastrointestinal involvement is noted in systemic neurofibromatosis in up to 25% of patients, but isolated intestinal neurofibromatosis is a very rare manifestation.

The cutaneous lesions and findings related to the central nervous system are frequently seen concomitantly in many patients. Neurocutaneous syndromes are the most typical examples supporting this observation. The prevalences of hypopigmented maculae and café-au-lait spots were investigated in 210 idiopathic epileptic children between the ages of 2 and 17 years and 2754 healthy children between the ages of 5 and 15 years. In the group of epileptic children, hypopigmented maculae and café-au-lait spots were observed in 30 (14.3%) and 63 (30%) children, respectively. In the group of healthy child

The neurocutaneous disorders frequently involve the central nervous system. This is the second in a pair of articles describing and illustrating the radiological appearances of the central nervous system manifestations of these disorders, this article looking at tuberous sclerosis, von Hippel-Lindau disease and Sturge-Weber syndrome.

We present three patients with familial congenital hypertrichosis localized to the anterior cervical region, associated with peripheral sensory and motor neuropathy. This association may represent a new neurocutaneous syndrome. The association of anterior midline cutaneous lesions with an underlying malformation is discussed.

Hypomelanosis of Ito is a neurocutaneous syndrome characterized by hypopigmented lesions occurring in streaks and whorls located on the trunk, head or extremities. The associated neurological manifestations include mental retardation, seizures, language disabilities and motor system dysfunction. Hemihypertrophy has also been described in this syndrome. We present a 3-month-old male infant with Hypomelanosis of Ito, hemi-hypertrophy and hemi-megalencephaly.

Epidermal nevus syndrome is a neurocutaneous disorder in which epidermal nevi are associated with other abnormalities, mostly of skeletal and central nervous system. A case of 6-year old girl with noninflammatory verrucous nevus, skeletal abnormalities of the left leg and Wilms tumor is presented.

Wyburn-Mason syndrome is a neurocutaneous disorder which typically presents with unilateral vascular abnormalities involving the facial structures, orbits and brain. We would like to present the clinical and radiological features in a newborn who had bilateral manifestations of this disorder and review the literature.

PHACE Syndrome is a neurocutaneous disease spectrum encompassing the following features: Posterior fossa brain malformations, large facial Hemangiomas, Arterial anomalies, Coarctation of the aorta and cardiac defects, and Eye abnormalities. We report the ocular and systemic findings, as well as the management course, of an infant who has all the characteristic features of PHACE syndrome and also describe what we believe to be the first reported case of this syndrome with Persistent Fetal Vasculature (PFV).

Hypomelanosis of Ito is a rare neurocutaneous syndrome, characterized by streaks and swirls of hypopigmentation arranged in a Blaschkoid pattern. Other associated anomalies are observed. We report a case of a male cynomolgus monkey (Macaca fascicularis) who presented the characteristic of hypomelanosis of Ito with palmoplantar involvement and polythelia.

BACKGROUND: Tuberous Sclerosis (TSC) also known as Bourneville disease is a neurocutaneous syndrome having an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern, though the condition has a high rate of spontaneous mutation. It is the second most common neurocutaneous syndrome after neurofibromatosis. This disease demonstrates a widespread potential for hamartomatous growths in multiple organ systems.
CASE REPORT: We report a case of a 36-year-old female with TSC presenting as massive hematuria with underlying giant bilateral renal angiomyolipomas (AML) with estimated total tumor burden of more than 8 kg

Sturge-Weber syndrome (SWS) is a neurocutaneous syndrome characterized by capillary venous malformations in the skin, eye, and brain with the occurrence of angiomas of the face, choroid, and leptomeninges. The characteristics signs include facial port-wine birth mark, glaucoma, choroidal hemangioma with brain malformations, and cognitive abnormalities. In this article, we have documented the case report of a 24-year-old male with SWS presenting with glaucoma.

Sjögren-Larsson syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive neurocutaneous disorder in which the combination of spasticity, ichthyosis, and mental retardation commonly result in patients being wheelchair bound. We reviewed a cohort of children with Sjögren-Larsson syndrome who were successfully managed with early physiotherapy and later soft-tissue surgery. The favourable outcome seen in these patients should encourage orthopaedic intervention in suitable cases.

PHACE syndrome is a neurocutaneous disorder consisting of posterior fossa brain abnormalities, facial infantile hemangioma, arterial anomalies, cardiac anomalies (most commonly coarctation of the aorta), and eye anomalies. While the cutaneous finding of infantile hemangioma represents the most clinically apparent feature, extracutaneous findings-specifically, developmental abnormalities of the aorta and medium-sized thoracic, cervical, and cerebral arteries-are common and pose significant potential morbidity and mortality. Cerebral arteriopathy can be progressive and lead to arterial ischemic

This article explores what is known regarding infantile hemangioma (IH) genetics. Despite a great deal of research on this topic, the relationship between IH genetics and pathogenesis has yet to be understood. This article also outlines the appropriate work-up and management of syndromes associated with specific presentations of IH.
