[Application of a mathematical algorithm for the detection of electroneuromyographic results in the pathogenesis study of facial dyskinesia].

To carry out a differential diagnosis of two facial dyskinesia (FD) models--facial hemispasm (FH) and facial paraspasm (FP), a combined program of electroneuromyographic (ENMG) examination has been created, using statistical analyses, including that for objects identification based on hybrid neural network with the application of adaptive fuzzy logic method and standard statistics programs (Wilcoxon, Student statistics). In FH, a lesion of peripheral facial neuromotor apparatus with augmentation of functions of inter-neurons in segmental and upper segmental stem levels predominated. In FP, pri

Contribution of a pacemaker bradycardia detection algorithm in the study of patients with carotid sinus syndrome.

While carotid sinus syndrome (CSS) is often suspected as a cause of syncope in the elderly, whether it represents an indication for cardiac pacing may remain uncertain. Bradycardia algorithms included in pacemakers are now able to establish a precise relationship between spontaneous asystole and occurrence of symptoms and strengthen the indication for permanent pacing. This study included seven men and three women (70.5 +/- 7.3 years of age) who, over an average period of 54.1 +/- 17 months, had suffered from syncope (12.6 episodes/patient) and presyncope (11.2 episodes/patient) attributed to

Use of patellofemoral digital twins for patellar tracking and treatment prediction: comparison of 3D models and contact detection algorithms.

Introduction: Poor patellar tracking can result in painful contact pressures, patella subluxation, or dislocation. The use of musculoskeletal models and simulations in orthopedic surgeries allows for objective predictions of post-treatment function, empowering clinicians to explore diverse treatment options for patients. Although a promising approach for managing knee surgeries, the high computational cost of the Finite Element Method hampers its clinical usability. In anticipation of minimal elastic deformations in the involved bodies, the exploration of the Multibody Dynamics approach emerge

Performance Improvement in Brain Tumor Detection in MRI Images Using a Combination of Evolutionary Algorithms and Active Contour Method.

The process of treating brain cancer depends on the experience and knowledge of the physician, which may be associated with eye errors or may vary from person to person. For this reason, it is important to utilize an automatic tumor detection algorithm to assist radiologists and physicians for brain tumor diagnosis. The aim of the present study is to automatically detect the location of the tumor in a brain MRI image with high accuracy. For this end, in the proposed algorithm, first, the skull is separated from the brain using morphological operators. The image is then segmented by six evoluti

LaZeTrack: An open-source object detection algorithm to detect and track 2-day-old zebrafish motor touch responses.

Zebrafish are a model organism used for the study of vertebrate development, disease, and drug discovery. Two-day old zebrafish exhibit burst swimming behavior that can be elicited by a light touch to the tail. Motor touch responses are frequently video-recorded and later analyzed by hand. Despite this being a simple behavioral assay, methods for robustly analyzing these videos in a reproducible and time-efficient manner rely on manual tracking, which is prone to experimenter bias and error. Here we present LaZeTrack, a machine learning-based program, which employs Ultralytics' YOLOv8 nano (YO

Automatic detection of the breast border and nipple position on digital mammograms using genetic algorithm for asymmetry approach to detection of microcalcifications.

The presence of microcalcifications in breast tissue is one of the most incident signs considered by radiologist for an early diagnosis of breast cancer, which is one of the most common forms of cancer among women. In this paper, the Genetic Algorithm (GA) is proposed for automatic look at commonly prone area the breast border and nipple position to discover the suspicious regions on digital mammograms based on asymmetries between left and right breast image. The basic idea of the asymmetry approach is to scan left and right images are subtracted to extract the suspicious region. The proposed
