Longterm results of soft tissue release for hip and knee flexion deformity in 27 patients with juvenile chronic arthritis (JCA) were evaluated. A total of 53 tenotomies were reviewed: 22 hips and 31 knees. Mean age at surgery was 12.1 years, with a mean underlying disease duration of 6.3 years and a postoperative followup of 5 years. Patients were evaluated at 3-6 months, then at one, 3 and 5 years. Psoas abscess complicating Crohn's disease is a rare condition. Fever, abdominal tenderness, limb pain and hip contracture are typical signs but only present in half of the cases. Cultures of the pus mostly grow a mixture of enterobacteria. The diagnosis is made by CT-scan. Medical therapy always results in recurrence of the abscess. Resection of the fistula and the affected bowel segment with end-to-end anastomosis is the therapy of choice. A case report is presented, followed by a review of the literature.

In recent years, three disease-modifying therapies have been approved and fully reimbursed in Poland since September 2023. Those therapies have significantly improved the disease outcome but led to new uncertainties. Distal arthrogryposis (DA) is a clinically and genetically heterogeneous disorder with multiple joint contractures. We describe a female DA patient with hand and foot deformities, and right-sided torticollis. Using exome sequencing, we identified a novel TNNI2 mutation (c.485>A, p.Arg162Lys) in the patient and her father. The father has no typical DA but hip dysplasia. This may explain the clinical features of DA2B in this family, but with variable clinical expression.

Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) is an unusual causative factor of scoliosis in childhood. Among 320 patients with JRA in Sweden, 17 (5.3%) had structural scoliosis of thoracic and lumbar spine. This frequency is considerably higher than in the normal population. The mean age when scoliosis was first noted was 12.4 years, corresponding to a mean duration of the JRA of 7.4 years. This is a report about 25 patients of 28 AMC patients with affected lower limbs. From distal to proximal the joints are less attacked. The club-foot is most frequent. It nearly always needs operative treatment. The best results can be obtained by bony operations (exstirpation of the talus, lateral resection of the cuboid, subtalar arthrodesis). In knee joints the frequent flexion-gryposis is functionaly disturbing. It can be eliminated in most of the cases only by operation. Recently, we examined a small-for-gestational age infant with blepharophimosis, congenital contractures of elbows, hips, and knees, fixed facial expression, and hypotonia. These congenital anomalies are consistent with a diagnosis of the Marden-Walker syndrome. The infant also had an omphalomesenteric duct, left hypoplastic kidney, hypoplastic right lower lobe of the lung, and displacement of the larynx to the right; these anomalies have not been described previously in this syndrome. A summary of the clinical manifestations of the previously reported patients is presented.

Nonlethal Escobar is a rare disorder that is a variant of multiple pterygium syndromes. It is a form of arthrogryposis multiplex congenita characterized by excessive webbing (pterygia), congenital contractures (arthrogryposis), and scoliosis.
