We report 2 cases of thymomas diagnosed during pregnancy. Neither of these 2 patients had paraneoplastic autoimmune conditions or previous neoplasia. The first patient had a 7.3-cm lymphocyte-predominant thymoma with capsular invasion. The second patient was diagnosed through fine needle aspiration biopsy after computed tomography showed multiple mediastinal masses. Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the leading cause of end-stage kidney disease in the United States and worldwide. Proteinuria is a major marker of the severity of injury. Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor (DPP-4I) increases incretin-related insulin production and is, therefore, used to treat diabetes. We investigated whether DPP4I could have direct effect on kidney independent of its hypoglycemic activity. We, therefore, tested the effects of DPP4I with or without angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI) on the progression of diabetic nephropathy and albuminuria in a murine model of DKD.

Human thymus development and thymoma behavior remain elusive, in spite of many acquisitions in the field in last decades. In the present paper, we analyzed the immunohistochemical expression of D2-40 in the normal human thymus and thymoma. In both fetal and postnatal normal thymus, we found a strong expression of D2-40 in the subcapsular and cortico-medullary epithelial cells, and lack of expression in the thymus of involution. BACKGROUND: Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) causes renal fibrosis and may lead to kidney failure. FSGS and its common complication, proteinuria, are challenging to treat. Corticosteroids are ineffective in many patients with FSGS, and alternative treatments often yield suboptimal responses.
