INTRODUCTION: Haemophilia affects a large number of people all over the world, yet very little is known about the clinical manifestations and diagnostic protocols of the condition in areas with limited access to resources in developing countries. Understanding the clinical spectrum and diagnostic approach will help with the design of measures to address the situation in these places. The primary objective of this study was to examine the clinicopathological parameters of haemophiliac patients.

Periocular haemorrhage without a preceding history of trauma, and in the absence of vascular malformations is rare. While acute proptosis is well described in the setting of orbital pathology, accompanying periocular haemorrhage has been rarely reported. BACKGROUND: Retropharyngeal haematomas are most commonly associated with trauma and anti-coagulant use. This paper describes the first reported case of a spontaneous retropharyngeal haematoma suspected to be due to indomethacin use.
CASE REPORT: It is proposed that the combination of indomethacin affecting platelet aggregation, alongside the patient coughing, may have led to this retropharyngeal haematoma.
CONCLUSION: The complexities of management are discussed and the current literature reviewed. In the absence of airway compromise or a rapidly enlarging haematoma, patients can be managed

An 18-month-old girl presented with irritability, epistaxis, spongy appearance of the gums perifollicular papules with follicular hyperkeratosis, ecchymosis, painful swollen knees and scorbutic rosary. Her diet consisted mainly of wheat flour. X-ray of the knees showed findings compatible with scurvy. Ascorbic acid level was below 0.003 g/L. Ascorbic acid therapy resulted in a dramatic clinical improvement. Scurvy is an uncommon disease in our society today. It is important to recognize the signs and symptoms of scurvy because it is easily treated with vitamin C replacement.

14 fresh cadavers of adult persons were placed with the head or body tilted in atypical positions 3 to 65 hours after death. CASE PRESENTATION: We describe the case of a 38-year-old female patient with a history of lupus presenting with atraumatic abdominal pain and ecchymosis. The ultimate diagnosis of abdominal lupus erythematous panniculitis was determined based on physical exam and imaging findings.
DISCUSSION: Lupus erythematous panniculitis is a rare diagnosis, but consideration is important as early recognition and treatment is important to reduce pain and lessen the possibility of irreversible disfigurement and unnecessary costs to affected patients.

Lichen sclerosus in young females can present as traumatic injuries on the vulva which can mimic sexual abuse. The case of an unconscious 6-year-old girl presenting in a reported inflicted drug overdose and with a clinical picture of ecchymosis and abrasions of the anogenital area is presented and discussed. The following case underscores the need for clinicians evaluating children for suspected abuse, to consider alternate conditions and causes that may not be related to sexual abuse.

Cutaneous manifestations of petechiae, purpura, and ecchymosis can lead the physician to discover an underlying platelet abnormality. Autoimmune idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (AITP) is a diagnosis of exclusion, mediated by a destructive IgG antibody response to the platelets' membrane components. In addition to showing evidence of cutaneous and mucosal bleeding (ie, epistaxis, hematuria), patients with AITP are at an increased risk for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Therefore, it is suggested that patients with AITP be closely monitored for SLE.

Blow-out fracture of the medial orbital wall, concomitant with tissue entrapment, is a rare condition occurring in those sustaining blunt trauma. Clinical signs of swelling, ecchymosis, enophthalmos, or diplopia during medial or lateral gaze is suggestive of the condition. Diagnostic confirmation is obtained by forced duction testing and computed tomography. Treatment with medial orbital decompression and limited ethmoidectomy is recommended in order to obtain optimum return of function with minimal risk.

Blunt trauma to the eye occurs frequently, and the aftereffects may be devastating. Traumatic injuries range from simple ecchymosis of the eyelid and subconjunctival hemorrhage to more serious lesions, including hyphema, choroidal or retinal rupture, optic nerve contusion and rupture of the globe. The diagnosis and management of this type of injury is not difficult if approached in an organized way. The family physician can treat most cases and should recognize those that require further consultation.

Necrotizing fasciitis is a life-threatening soft tissue infection characterized by progressive necrosis of the skin, subcutaneous tissues and fascia. Fournier's gangrene (FG) is a serious and aggressive form of infective necrotizing fasciitis involving perineal region and genitalia. Presently described are 2 pediatric cases of FG with widespread necrosis of surrounding tissue following anorectal surgery, causing severe septic shock.
