Multi-level experiences of HIV-related stigma among people living with HIV: an institution-based qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Stigma remains a pervasive barrier to the health and well-being of people living with HIV (PLHIV), affecting access to treatment and care. In Nepal, discriminatory attitudes and behaviors persist across all levels, often resulting in mental distress, social isolation, and delayed care-seeking. Guided by the Intersectional Stigma Framework, this study explored how lived HIV -related stigma operates across individual, interpersonal, community, and structural levels, and how existing social and institutional mechanisms shape the lived experiences of PLHIV. METHODS: A qualitative study

Unreachable Loneliness: Informal Supports Role Amid Low Belonging Perceptions of Suicide-Vulnerable Youth.

Suicide remains a leading cause of death for young people. This study explores the critical role of informal supports in the lives of youth facing suicidal crises by tracing the role of belonging throughout suicidal episodes. Using interpretative phenomenological analysis, this study aims to provide a holistic view of belongingness couched in the rich context of lived experience, broadening the scope of belongingness while taking into account the acute nature of the construct. Three young adults who experienced suicidal episodes during adolescence were interviewed. Participants described how t

Understanding non-traditional caregivers: protocol for a scoping review of caregiver definitions, caregiver networks and outcome measures.

INTRODUCTION: Dementia caregiving is typically provided through a network of multiple individuals, particularly in diverse populations. Although family members of people living with Alzheimer's disease and Alzheimer's disease-related dementias, especially spouses and adult children, often assume the role of informal care partner, there is a growing number of non-traditional informal care partners (ie, non-spousal, non-biological child) given societal changes in family structure. The proposed study aims to systematically review the caregiver literature to better understand how caregivers are de

Semi-structured interviews with 17 Australian families who had a child diagnosed with nonsyndromic craniosynostosis were undertaken. Reflexive thematic analys

"They look into our world" - A qualitative study of intensive support to adolescents with poorly regulated type 1 diabetes and their families.

OBJECTIVE: This article is based on a qualitative evaluation of a project offering intensive support to Danish adolescents with poorly regulated type I diabetes and their families. The article explores 1) how the project allowed for another approach to the families than what is possible in usual care at the hospital, and 2) how the nurse involved other professionals in caring for the adolescents. METHODS: The study involved interviews with four participating adolescents, four parents, a social worker, and the nurse running the project, along with a reading of the nurse's entries in the adoles

This study explored first-time parents' experiences of the parental support they received during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS: A qualitative study involving individual semi-structured inter

Experts of their own experience: adolescent and young adult cancer patients' advice-giving as a coping mechanism.

BACKGROUND: To better understand informal coping strategies among adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer, the current investigation asked AYA study participants to describe the 'advice' they would offer to hypothetical peers about coping following diagnosis. This study explores the utility of the single item 'advice' prompt for supportive oncology research and practice. METHODS: AYA cancer patients (n = 27) aged 12-25 years were recruited through electronic health record query at a single-institution health system. Participants completed semi-structured interviews. Use of web-based decision support to improve informed choice for chemoprevention: a qualitative analysis of pre-implementation interviews (SWOG S1904).

BACKGROUND: Women with high-risk breast lesions, such as atypical hyperplasia (AH) or lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS), have a 4- to tenfold increased risk of breast cancer compared to women with non-proliferative breast disease. Despite high-quality data supporting chemoprevention, uptake remains low. Interventions are needed to break down barriers. METHODS: The parent trial, MiCHOICE, is a cluster randomized controlled trial evaluating the effectiveness and implementation of patient and provider decision support tools to improve informed choice about chemoprevention among women with AH or L

The role of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system in the relationships between stress exposure, stress-related psychopathology, and cardiovascular disease: a rapid scoping review.

BACKGROUND: The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) is widely recognized for its role in maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance, as well as its involvement in the pathogenesis of certain forms of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Recent research suggests that, in addition, the RAAS may play a role in the body's response to stress, making activity of the RAAS a potential mechanism linking stress exposure or psychopathology to cardiovascular disease risk. PURPOSE: This rapid scoping review synthesizes the relevant literature that has been published on this topic over the past 16 years.

Understanding adherence to guideline-recommended therapy in patients with peripheral artery disease: A qualitative study.

OBJECTIVES: Adherence to peripheral arterial disease (PAD) treatment remains low, despite its benefit for secondary disease prevention. Currently, there is no qualitative research exploring why this is the case. This study aimed to explore patients' lived experiences of PAD and its treatment, their motivation to adherence and barriers to non-adherence. METHODS: Semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted with patients with PAD from diverse backgrounds and varying adherence levels. The Perceptions and Practicalities Approach framed the topic guide and guided analysis. Interviews were
