Autoperipheral blood mononuclear cell transplantation improved giant ulcers due to chronic arteriosclerosis obliterans.

We report the case of a 74-year-old man with Fontaine stage IV chronic arteriosclerosis obliterans who had been suffering from inveterate giant skin ulcers on the dorsum and heel of the right foot. As conventional medical treatments had not improved these ulcers and surgical treatment was considered unfeasible, amputation of the right lower limb below the knee appeared to represent the only option. The patient was admitted to Tottori University Hospital to attempt a new angiogenic therapy using auto-mononuclear cell transplantation to avoid amputation. On admission, neither right ankle blood p

Retrospective assessment of tailored exercise regimens in the rehabilitation of lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans.

Lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans (LEAO) is a prevalent peripheral vascular disorder that results in diminished blood circulation and compromised lower-limb function. Conventional rehabilitation typically relies on uniform exercise instructions, which may fail to accommodate the diverse needs of individual patients. This study aimed to assess the therapeutic value of personalized exercise prescriptions (PEPs) in enhancing lower-limb perfusion, walking performance, comfort, pain relief, and self-care ability among patients with LEAO, compared with standard exercise guidance. A retrosp

Peripheral macrohemodynamics in patients with lower limb arteriosclerosis obliterans and type II diabetes mellitus.

The paper presents characteristic features of lower limb atherosclerotic lesions in patients with diabetes mellitus: more prominent calcification of vascular wall (involving media), frequent involvement of distal vascular segments and a symmetry of lesions. Typical variants are shown in images obtained with duplex angioscanning. The authors conclude that there are no principal differences in the course of lower limb arteriosclerosis obliterans between diabetics and non-diabetics. Nevertheless some special features were mentioned, particularly in clinical manifestation of intermittent claudicat

Sulodexide for limb salvage in refractory diabetic foot ulcer with arteriosclerosis obliterans: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) remain at substantial risk for impaired wound healing, even following successful revascularization. This clinical challenge is often associated with underlying microcirculatory dysfunction, highlighting a critical unmet need for effective intervention strategies. CASE DESCRIPTION: A 77-year-old female patient was suffering from severe DFU on her right foot, with infected wound, complicated by arteriosclerosis obliterans of the lower limbs. She underwent surgical debridement and angiographically and hemodynamically successful endovascular an

Investigation and risk factor analysis of anxiety and depression in patients with lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans.

BACKGROUND: The prevalence of lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans (LEASO) in China is progressively increasing with the increment in age. Certain patients may be diagnosed with lower extremity arterial stenosis and occlusion that resist complete curative efforts, which will invariably impose a substantial psychological strain on them. AIM: To investigate the anxiety and depression conditions among patients with LEASO and analyze the associated risk factors. METHODS: The Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical University from January 2019 to December 2022. Their demographic and clinical

MiR-375 Targeting PDK1 Regulates the Wnt/β-Catenin Pathway in Lower Extremity Arteriosclerosis Obliterans.

BACKGROUND: Lower extremity arteriosclerosis obliterans (LEASO) is a severe peripheral arterial disease characterized by chronic inflammation, lipid deposition, and vascular remodeling. MicroRNA-375 (miR-375) has emerged as a regulatory molecule in vascular pathology, but its role in LEASO remains unclear. OBJECTIVE: This study investigated whether miR-375 regulates the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway by targeting pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase 1 (PDK1), and its impact on LEASO progression. METHODS: Clinical samples (arterial tissues and blood) were collected from 10 LEASO patients and 10 tra

Effects of an ICT-Based Wearable Intervention on Physical Function in Arteriosclerosis Obliterans: A 12-Week Study.

Arteriosclerosis obliterans (ASO) is associated with impaired walking function and claudication. However, the effects of information and communication technology (ICT)-based wearable interventions on objectively measured gait outcomes in this population have not been determined. In this 12-week intervention, 52 patients with ASO were randomly assigned to an ICT-based wearable-assisted exercise intervention (n = 30) or a control (n = 22) group. All participants wore a triaxial accelerometer-based device on the non-dominant wrist to monitor moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA), expresse
