Butyl methacrylate (BMA) was grafted onto kapok fiber using benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as initiator. Kapok is a cotton-like fibre obtained from the fruits of Ceiba pentandra, a tree surgeon in tropical countries. In Sri Lanka ginning of kapok is usually done by machine in poorly ventilated buildings where workers are exposed to a great deal of dust. Forty-one workers in five ginneries in Colombo were examined. Mill fever occurred in 28 (77-8%) of the 36 workers who were able to give a history. West Nile virus (WNV) ecology in neotropical ecosystems is poorly understood, and vertebrate hosts responsible for infecting mosquitoes remain unidentified throughout the Caribbean Basin. Sorption rates of kapok fibers on different oils, such as diesel, cooking oil, used motor oil, and motor oil, were quantitatively evaluated by using a wicking method. AIM: The impact of the CYP2C:TG haplotype on CYP2C19-mediated omeprazole metabolism was evaluated.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: CYP2C19 enzymatic activity was assessed in 234 volunteers from Nicaragua and Ecuador using the omeprazole/5-hydroxyomeprazole metabolic ratio within a validated CEIBA cocktail protocol. Genotyping included CYP2C19 alleles (*2, *3, *4, *5, *17) and CYP2C:TG defining CYP2C18 variants (rs2860840, rs11188059). Associations among the CYP2C:TG haplotype, CYP2C19 genotype, and metabolic ratio were analyzed using univariate and multivariate models.

This work successfully demonstrates a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach for synthesizing Semal-ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) using the aqueous leaf extract of Bombax ceiba L. These NPs exhibit an absorption peak at approximately 390 nm in the UV-visible spectrum and an energy gap (Eg) of 3.11 eV. Water, methanol and dichloromethane extracts prepared from various parts of 40 medicinal plant species from Mali were investigated for their trypanocidal activity against Trypanosoma brucei brucei.
