We recently encountered a rare case where gastric cancer developed in the long-term postoperative stage after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) using the right gastroepiploic artery (RGEA) and distal partial gastrectomy was performed to treat the cancer. The patient was a 64-year-old man. In November 2001, he underwent three-vessel CABG, involving bypassing between the right coronary artery (RCA) and the RGEA, to treat an old myocardial infarction. Emergency TAE was employed in 17 patients with massive hemorrhage from gastric ulcer. Spontaneous visceral artery dissections are rare and poorly understood presentations. Isolated superior mesenteric artery (SMA) and left gastric artery (LGA) involvement is exceptionally uncommon. This report describes a bronchial artery originating from the left gastric artery in a patient with recurrent massive haemoptysis caused by chronic pulmonary tuberculosis. The artery was not evident on the initial angiographic work-up including thoracic aortography, but it was evident in the selective angiography upon follow-up study. Haemoptysis was successfully controlled with transarterial embolisation. The left gastric artery should be included as a location for the possible origin of the bronchial artery.
