Bone prosthesis composite (BPC) had been widely-used in reconstruction after wide excision of malignant tumors around the knee. However, implant selection for BPC remains a dilemma. Forty-one patients with high-grade malignant bone tumors around the knee who underwent excision and reconstruction with BPC and rotating hinged knee (RHK) prosthesis were included. Primary total knee arthroplasty is a highly effective treatment. The selection of patients to perform arthroplasty is essential. The steps to the radiological evaluation of the pre-surgical knees will be the key to the success of the implant. After surgery, it is mandatory to search the causes for symptomatic and failed arthroplasty for effective and timely revision. The aim of this research is to present the initial results of patellofemoral (PF) knee joint prosthesis implantation, as well as a review of recent literature. In the ten-year time period from 2012 to 2021, we implanted 8 PF prostheses, which account for 0.7% of all implanted knee prostheses. Out of the eight patients, two were male and six were female. CASE: An 82-year-old woman underwent right total knee replacement with a sequentially irradiated and annealed highly cross-linked polyethylene insert. At 9 years, she was found to have a massive femoral osteolysis with an impending fracture.
CONCLUSION: This case demonstrates a rare occurrence of massive femoral osteolysis, requiring revision surgery, with a sequentially irradiated and annealed highly cross-linked polyethylene.

The fractures of the tibial diaphysis below a total knee prosthesis are a surgical challenge and intra medullary nailing seems impossible. Synthetic tubes are the second choice for below-knee bypass materials. The ring-reinforced thin-walled Goretex-PTFE graft is an approved material which was tested in a multicenter study. The primary 3 years patency for below-knee femoral-popliteal bypass was 64%, for crural bypass 39%. A total of 195 grafts have been implanted. Long-term patency depends very much on the run-off conditions (81% in good and 43% in bad cases). The over-all limb salvage rate was 80% after 3 years.

A review of 50 knees in 42 patients operated upon between August, 1973 and November, 1976 is presented. Following initial good results, problems have been encountered with the passage of time. As shown in long term follow-up studies of Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA), the femoropatellar joint is an important problem. We report our experience over the past seven years not having resurfaced the patella at the primary TKA at all.
