An 85-year-old male with glaucoma presented with a 1-1/2 year history of tearing; red eyes; and pruritic, edematous, eczematous eyelids. Treatment for presumed ocular rosacea and seborrhea was unhelpful. Patch testing to our standard 64 antigens yielded a positive reaction to Balsam of Peru. BACKGROUND: Latanoprost may be a useful adjunct in some patients receiving maximum tolerated medical therapy. We report our clinical experience with latanoprost when added to one or two other glaucoma medications.
METHODS: Review of the charts of 53 patients with open-angle glaucoma whose intraocular pressure (IOP) was uncontrolled with one or two glaucoma medications and who had latanoprost added as a second or third drug. Patients whose IOP decreased by 3 mm Hg or more were considered to be responders.

PURPOSE: To report three different adverse reactions after initiating treatment with latanoprost.
METHOD: Serial clinical examinations of three patients were performed.
RESULTS: Adverse reactions such as ocular hypotony and choroidal effusions, recurrent cystoid macular edema, and facial rash were noted to occur within 1 to 4 weeks after starting topical latanoprost for the treatment of primary open-angle glaucoma.
CONCLUSION: Clinicians should be alerted to these possible complications of topical latanoprost therapy.
