Tonsillectomy is one of the most controversial topics in otolaryngology. Today the immunologic role of the lymphoid tissue allows to clarify the surgical indications. Chronic bacterial tonsillitis, obstructive hypertrophic tonsils, peritonsillar abscess, suspicious of malignancy and fever convulsions produced by tonsillitis are the absolute indications for tonsillectomy. We review the literature on this topic.

Neoplasms of the head and neck constitute a broad spectrum of benign and malignant entities. When treatment involves resection, assessment of the surgical margins represents an important component of the pathologic examination. Margin status is an important indicator of a complete surgical resection. The ability to generalize conclusions such as 'safe distance' measurements from work performed mSCCa or cutaneous malignancy to other types of neoplasms in the head and neck region seems limited. This article reviews conditions and considerations for reliable margin assessment and interpretation.

This study was carried out in a group of 40 patients (both sexes) aged between 18 and 65 years old. The following pathologies were controlled and studied using collutory flurbiprofen: aphthous stomatitis, pressure ulcer caused by badly fitted mobile prostheses, radicular residue, particularly sharp and cutting dental cusps, pre-and postoperative treatment for the diagnosis of embedded 8th. Incomplete resection of the transitional zone (TZ) between histologically normal and aganglionic bowel in Hirschsprung disease is a putative cause of postoperative dysmotility. The transoral approach is a surgical technique that can be used effectively in the treatment of anterior craniovertebral junction (CVJ) pathology. In this review, we outline the signs, symptoms, and diagnostic studies that identify the pathology and help to determine subsequent therapy. The transoral approach, preoperative and postoperative management problems, and potential complications of the procedure are reviewed. The nursing care of a patient with CVJ pathology is discussed.

In 63 resected thoracic aortic aneurysms, the commonest histological finding (45 cases, 71.4%) was cystic medionecrosis. These cases formed two groups, 29 with widespread fragmentation and loss of elastic tissue (elastopathy) and 16 cases without elastopathy who were older and included most of the 18 cases of dissecting aneurysms. AIMS: A majority of aortic dissections affect the ascending aorta and are acute in nature. Chronic dissections in this region are uncommon. This report characterises the clinicopathological features of 15 non-iatrogenic chronic ascending aortic dissections.
METHODS: Among 65 patients who had surgery for ascending aortic dissection over a period of 6 years, 15 showed morphological evidence of chronic dissection. Clinical data and morphological features of these were analysed.
