This study employs a combination of mathematical derivation and optimization technique to investigate the adsorption of drug molecules on nanocarriers. Specifically, the chemotherapy drugs, fluorouracil, proflavine, and methylene blue, are non-covalently bonded with either a flat graphene sheet or a spherical C 60 fullerene. Surgical resection of head and neck (H and N) squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) may yield inadequate surgical cancer margins in 10 to 20% of cases. OBJECTIVES: High-resolution microendoscopy (HRME) is an optical imaging modality that allows real time imaging of epithelial tissue and structural changes within. We hypothesize that HRME, using proflavine, a contrast agent that preferentially stains cell nuclei and allows detection of cellular morphologic changes, can distinguish sinonasal pathology from uninvolved mucosa, potentially enabling real-time surgical margin differentiation.

18% (571/3145) of patients attending a contact dermatitis clinic in Singapore had contact sensitivity to one or more topical antimicrobials. The rates in males and females were similar. The rate for patients under 50 years old was 16% and for those over 50 years old 30% (p less than 0.0001). There were no significant differences in the rates among Chinese, Malays, Indians and other races. The antimicrobials proflavine, neomycin and clioquinol were the commonest sensitizers.
